The Utterly Imbalanced CaseLabs TX10-D build(s)!

VSG

Well we will see soon enough, that Red Mist guy is on OCN and now this new build of his is finished too. But like I said, if you want to see what happens with Pastel/Aurora or any other pH sensitive coolant with dirty rads then just head over to the Mayhems thread on OCN.

I am heading home now, will measure the height from CPU block to 1/2" past the Dom Plats soon.

The monsoon fittings look like a pain to use with the weird plastic bit that goes in there somehow.  Those plain primochills looked pretty easy to install in the tutorial, but it seems to always "look easier" than it actually is.

Those are the basic ones, at least in case of the primochill version the barb goes in the compression ring so much that it is extremely hard to get them out even with the provided tool. So I can't recommend those. They came out with a newer ghost revolver knurled ring fitting that looks easier to work with.

I don't buy that second part, you can see it getting progressively worse and the same color change has happened with a lot of guys on OCN who used Mayhems yellow with alphacool rads. Also, where is the darker gold in that motherboard?

its a darker yellow, making it look gold, a slip of the keyboard by him it would seem. and he has done watercooling for a while and says yes it does gunk up your system using coloured liquid but that wasnt due to the rads but the components of the liquid himself

That weird plastic bit, once glued on and UV cured properly, gives additional strength. This part can be tedious and users can make errors though.

Doesn't matter how long one has been doing watercooling, some components are new to the table and effects are understood much later. The pH effect on Mayhems coolants was only recognized late last year. Here is an example of another guy having the same issues over a period of 4 months:

I guess he must just deal with it then, although he hasnt said anything previous, maybe he doesnt even know, he has said he 'refreshes' his coolant every other month or so.

Possibly the case, I know he isn't careless by any stretch of the imagination.

@Lays: Approximately 40mm (1.6"). A 30mm extender + compression fitting should be fine. If using a rotary 90 degree adapter then 20-25mm extenders should also work depending on the length of the rotary adapter. Best to go higher to be sure, that way you also see more bling bling from the dom plats.

Well, all I know is that my coolant is fine after 13 months of use with only alphacool rads.  The only thing that's happened to it was that I diluted it a bit thanks to having a spontaneous leak and not having pastel to hand, so in went the distilled water.  Up until that point (~6 months or so?) it looked just like new and after then I looks the same way as it did after I topped it up.  Is this more of an issue with affecting purely the dye instead?  Ask for coolant gunk, simply down to the tubing really.  Running acrylic tubing so no issues on that front either.

@VSG I was going to go 30mm extender, then use one of these: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10370/ex-tub-617/Bitspower_G_14_Thread_90_Fitting_Adapter_-_Matte_Black_BP-MBWP-C39.html

Then after that I'd use the fitting for the tube.

Think that'd work alright?

That dilution with distilled water raised the pH of your coolant and likely helped a lot. The cleaned flush from the alphacool rads had a pH of 2.4ish in my case.

You are right in that the dye is the primary affected component but even the non dyed, naturally colored pastel gets this eventually. It is the pH effecting the ZnO and TnO nanoparticles in there.

That's a non rotary adapter, I would really spend the extra bucks and get a rotary version: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/23512/ex-tub-3035/Bitspower_G14_Thread_90-Degree_Rotary_Adapter_-_Carbon_Black_BP-CB90R.html or http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10376/ex-tub-629/Bitspower_G14_Thread_90-Degree_Rotary_Adapter_-_Matte_Black_BP-MB90R.html

Why aren't you buying from Sidewinder or PPC? Their prices are cheaper.

Alright, I'll go double check on both websites to see what's the best price.

Derp, forgot I needed a rotary to make sure it lines up properly.  I'll go back through and double check everything, the current total is $790 no shipping for all the parts.

Is PPC out of Florida? I used them in the past and if I remember right, it was like $20 to ship some things (I'm in Oregon) , even small things like fittings, it may of been somewhere else though, can't remember since it's been nearly a year now.

You really need to check with PPC at least, they are just as big as FCPU. I would say even with the higher shipping, the total will likely be cheaper. Also check out my sponsor Hellfire Toyz, the guy gives a 5% discount on just about everything and has free shipping on orders over $100 or so. He doesn't have as big a stock as the other two however.

On the topic of radiator quality how good are XSPC and Hardware labs rads? I'm looking to do up my system when I have the cash and was thinking of using those brand radiators.

Cool, it's $30 cheaper than frozencpu, and with the shipping, it's still the same price as fcpu.

Do you think it'll look lopsided with the extender on only one CPU fitting port, and a normal fitting on the other port?

Yeah that's where I got the idea TBH.

Are all the end-tanks on alphacool radiators the same?

Could you measure how far it is from the G1/4 threads, to where the fan mounts are? In terms of  how far is it from the outside of the radiator, to the center of the G 1/4 thread hole?

Not sure if will be the same for all to be honest, the end tank on the Phobya G-Changer 120 (essentially a UT60 120) looks different than that on my Alphacool Monsta 480. I can still measure them both and see.

Edit: @Lays, ~ 22mm center to center

Dam I'll have to add an extra bend in then, or use a taller extender to get the tube to line up with the end tank threads.

Dual/triple rotaries. Getting a bend in 22mm is next to impossible if that's what you were intending to do.

Also, 1k views today in ~9 hours or so

Would it be easier to do the plan I wanted already, then have fittings come off the top radiator to meet that piece of tubing?

Can't say for sure without pics.

Speaking of pics, make a build log you lazy bum :P

I only have a couple pictures so far since I haven't bought the watercooling stuff yet, I'm still waiting for someone to buy my 3930k+ RIVE + spare stuff laying around to fund the watercooling parts.

I suppose I could start one, although it'd be insanely empty lol
