  1. Not sure what better options there are. For the money? Sure. But the ML twin pack are good there too. Just confirmed with Corsair engineer- the LEDs are NOT supposed to dim with PWM fan control. Double check there is no voltage change going on, and if not time to file a ticket.
  2. I have all of them here, did a review for the 120 and 140 mm sizes and never noticed any LED dimming. Let me double check and also confirm with Corsair, but this seems very weird. Just to confirm- your motherboard/controller is applying true PWM control, right?
  3. 1) That's because the SP120 QE maxed out at 1350 RPM, vs 2400 RPM for the ML120. Just slow the latter down. 2) Nope, the LEDs and the fan are both at 12 V and the LEDs should not dim at all. If they do you have a faulty fan.
  4. FYI, there is a good possibility the PSU used influenced this a lot. He's using the Superflower PSU with the transparent modular connectors. That particular model uses the same 9-pin connector type for ALL connectors. So the nine pins have to support +12 V, +5 V and +3.3 V and ground connections. Thus, if the voltage drops from the PSU to the EPS12V, the VRMs have to pull more current at the lower voltage than it would if the voltage were higher thus causing them to run hotter too. It has fewer +12 V connectors on the PSU side too, so voltage drop is a guarantee. A lot of the info above came from JonnyGuru whom I was talking with just now about this, so he alerted me to this possibility. I did let Der8aurer know via a message but not sure he'll see it anytime soon.
  5. Indeed, and if you look at the article again now you will see a lot of changes have happened. Still some left to do on AMD's side, but it's a lot more transparent now.
  6. So the graph is a stupidly scaled one. I think there are two scales for the AMD and NVIDIA bars allowing them to look like that, and it is being fixed from what I know. As far as TPU goes, this was definitely a learning experience on how not to go about things lol and it's not going to happen again. An advertorial is actually standard practice, not that I like it myself but it is definitely not a new or made up word.
  7. This time last year I would have agreed, but Kailh has improved their QC so much over the last few months that there is really nothing to distinguish the originals from the clones in a retail product. Last I heard yields were still an issue but that does not affect the customer.

  13. Mind letting me know where you saw "all 9 switch types" or similar wording? I don't see where I mentioned this as opposed to saying this comes with an option of 9 Cherry MX switches. As I see it, Cherry profile is different from Cherry OEM profile which in turn is what is generally referred to as OEM profile now. This is based on info from the Cherry Americas rep from when I was working on review of the MX 6.0 Actually a lot of RGB lit keyboards need the power that a USB 3.0 port provides. The bandwidth is not the issue. The reason I bring it up is mostly for people who are interested to map out their USB port usage/allocation. Thanks for the information about the space bar, I will update that bit. The MX RGB switches have been more prone to QC issues, especially the MX Blue RGB. Regarding the "scratchy" feeling, I know what you mean after having tried out some Gateron linear and tactile switches. The switches here were fine, and there was consistent tactility on them as tested by the tension gauge and calipers.
