Should I upgrade or downgrade to windows 11?

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

Is there a reason why running Windows 11 on your laptop and Windows 10 on your desktop not an option? That should be the least amount of effort.

Realistically it won't matter which you go for, Windows 10 and 11 are the same OS with a different UI. If you like one over another, stick to that one as you're not likely to notice anything useful by making a switch.

Hi guys,

To give you a bit of context, I have a gaming pc at home (a bit old ngl, i5-9400F and 1650Super, 16GB of ram), the thing is that I'm going to buy an ASUS zenbook 15 (Ryzen 7) for class as I'm a student in printing and graphic design.
The "problem" is that the ASUS laptop comes with Windows 11 preinstalled and I've always used Windows 10 on my pc at home.

So I have 2 options, either when the laptop arrives, I dowgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10, or I just switch to Windows 11 on my gaming PC at home?

I wanted to know what you thought I should do,
Thank you very much!!

It's mainly because it takes me a long time to get used to something new and it would be a bit confusing to spend a few days on Windows 10 at home and then during the week being on Windows 11. It's for the practical side and to be able to have the same eco-system everywhere.

its basically the same ecosystem, just the UI is different. almost everything that is in windows 10 is found in windows 11, and once you use both, you wont need to get used to the other again.

you'll have to get used to windows 11 eventually though, so why not now.

I use 10 at work and 11 at home, its essentially the same thing.

Yeah, seems logical, the things is that I'm really used to use windows 10 but having to buy a W11 laptop may be the good reason to finally get to w11 on my pc.
I'll try to use both and I'll adjust if I prefer one of them better at the end, thanks!^^

How much do you do in either?

File Manager is the same, apps are the same, they launch the same, they are listed the same, etc.

Browsers work the same.

Have you even used both?  You're making some very far reaching implied suggestions as to how they work.

You can get pedantic about it and say things like "but the file manager in W11 has tabs and a new right click menu," but those are only small differences that if you didn't know they were they, you wouldn't notice they were there.

Probably the only two apps that are noticeably different from one to another is task manager and settings, though even with those they just moved around the button location rather than changed how it works.

What people above me said.

My situation kinda just like @GuiltySpark_'s, running Win11 Pro on my laptop & Win10 Pro on my desktop.

This is coming from someone who stuck with Win7 for a shit ton of time, half because not liking change in habbit and another half due to hardware limitation :

You'll get used to it sooner than you thought.

Plus, there is ways to make some W11 elements looks and/or behave just like W10 if you really want it that way.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

welp. sounds like you like windows 10 and are used to it.

download and install windows 11

download and install startisback 11

it will look and feel like windows 10 and can even have the windows 7 feel, it is the best option.

my desktop is 10 my laptop is 11, other than not being able to right click in the calendar to add a simple reminder, the experience is the same
