I at least hope they allow 100W charging with 3rd party adapters/usb-hubs, {Like the ones from U-green}

LTT is dropping Asus as a sponsor going forward (ssee the sponsor complaints thread). They mentioned that we'll probably still see some Asus-sponsored content in the short term as they wrap up stuff that was contractually agreed upon before the decision to discontinue the relationship with Asus was made.

My guess would be that they might be trying to clear the decks of that backlog of Asus-sponsored stuff, and that's resulted in back-to-back Asus sponsored videos immediately after the Samsung sponsored monitor video.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Because the sponsor paid for it.

Nothing abnormal by a large company with multiple business units to do this.

That would also mean no ROG reboot. I'll have to go check out why they are dropping Asus.

Short version is because Asus has a long track record of abysmal customer support.

Has there even been a Rig Reboot since 2021?

I might consider one of these, but it's going to come down to:

  • Whether they can re-earn Linus' trust/forgiveness
  • Quality of linux support
  • Out in the wild reviews of the product (duh)

General concerns and dislikes:

  • I'm disappointed that I can't get to 64GB RAM with it
  • I wouldn't mind knowing specifically which ARC GPU it'll have
  • Would have liked to have seen pen support demoed
  • I still think a full folding-over hinge would have been nice, not the end of the world though
  • Sensel or haptic touchpad
  • AMD over Intel, but whatever, I support ARC

I guess I should also wait to see what all the other manufacturers do as well...

I like how they were really careful to not say how expensive this thing is. Just its starting price.... even the website doesn't want you to know what they're charging for it.

I really like this. If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg I might pick one up when I get a new laptop.

Edit: Watched the last 2 minutes of the video, $1500. Definitely considering it.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

I'm a video editor and I struggle between portability and having a good movable workspace. I decided to have a heavier portable rig to work more comfortably. Currently, I have an Asus ROG G513Q (a heavy boi) with an Asus MB16ACE portable monitor. My backpack gets heaaaaaaaaavy but I still prefer the extra real-estate.

All of this just to share that I'm excited about this laptop. It would make my portable setup way more convenient.

I will keep in consideration the customer support claims I read here. I didn't know, than you all! cheers.
