Intel i7-14700k sold early

Summary

A reddit user by the name of u/PantatRebus has managed to purchase a 14th gen i7 from a retailer in Indonesia.

 

u/PantantRebus had this to say in their post:

"Indonesian here. Yes I just bought an i7-14700K

 

I made sure not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES that IF this processor is ready to be sold to a customer. They said yes to all three confirmation and voila. It's 7.450.000 IDR (roughly 480USD)"

Should be noted that guy is running it on some B660 board, somewhat small air cooler and DDR4. Not ideal conditions so keep in mind before making final judgements from any of those results.

MTL(Meteor lake, the planned 14th gen) was not ready for desktop use (and would not have used this socket)
this is not really a new gen but a backup plan, its neither a tick or a tock, Its raptor lake refresh, the only significant change is its voltage management to make it more efficient and thus able to hit higher clocks. 

not a slight on intel, its a good pivot. but a pivot none the less.

Virtually every single CPU launch has leaks of some kind regarding supply chain. Not everyone buys things online

The story itself may or may not be fabricated, not that it matters. Someone always gets one early, usually because "I know a guy"

That's not true.

The biggest change to this CPU is that it has 4 more CPU cores (E-Cores).

It's an 8+12 design rather than the previous 8+8 design.

 

That's a much bigger change than this supposed voltage change that gives an extra 200MHz turbo on the P-cores and 100MHz extra on the E-cores.

Thats more performance/cores per dollar yes. 

The chip design is the same (for the i9), the sku core count have been upped except for i9.

I do not know off the top of my head how many dies are across the line up for this 13th or 14th gen. Lately, its been typical that i7 and i9 share the a die. but I dont know where the cut offs are this time around
