Where did the search bar go?

It disappeared when we switched hosting servers (if you remember over the summer there was a lot of downtime on LTT and then the admins decided to migrate to a new host) but it never worked anyway, if you want to search just go to Google and type in site:linustechtips.com *search terms*

It was buggy anyway, they removed it.

But you can still access it in I.P Board theme.

Button is gone but this link still works

http://linustechtips.com/main/index.php?app=core&module=search

Just click on "View New Content" and delete everything past "app=core&module=search" in the url bar to access the search page.

It was rubbish. Took literally a minute to find... nothing. useless. I'm actually glad that it's gone.

If you are talking about finding one on this site they removed it and I am disappointed with that.  It really is needed.

It's taking a break because it was causing some issues, but the intention is to have it return at some point. In the mean time, use a google search for "site:linustechtips.com <query>" to the same effect.

I'm no forum veteran, not this one or any, but I'm a pretty savvy guy, when it comes to computer navigation/utilization. So either I am suffering from highly selective brain dysfunction, or there is no search feature on this forum. I don't like people posting topics without doing research first, and I dislike even more-so being that person. However, in order to avoid doing that, I have to manually ctrl-f for about 30+ pages of forum pages (answered and unanswered). It's time consuming and not very reliable, especially because 30 pages deep in one particular forum sub-section may only be a month or two ago.

If someone can either assure me that I'm not just being stupid, or else point me to the search feature, I would greatly appreciate it.

We had one, but it was so bad it was on par with Bing and didn't always work.

Don't hurt me Bing users here pls

 

Why don't you just use Google to search for stuff here?

Alternatively you can use the ip.board theme and it's still there.

We had one but it was shit, so they have taken it off while they fix it. I should be back in the future I think

This is the 500001th thread about the search function.

 

It was originally a thing, but it was really shitty and never worked. Somehow it was lost during server migration (that's another story). It'll be back in IPB4.

 

Just go to Google and type in site:linustechtips.com *keywords*
