Automotive shop custom PC!!

HybridFuel

I run an independent Auto repair shop in Jacksonville Florida and my office computer was showing it's age! So being a LTT fan, why not build a new one with some flair!

its an I5-11500, needed something decent with integrated graphics, MSI H510i Pro Wifi, with a crucial P3 500 gig m.2, and 16 gigs of Team Group DDR 4.

It's not a gaming rig by any means but its not supposed to be!

the case........ahh the case! It's an intake manifold from a 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL450

yeah i thought about that during the build, was gonna drill holes in the top section so the antennas could protrude out a little but as it

turned out the reception is fine, especially since the router is 4 feet away

how long did it take to gut the plenum? Looks like it fits in there so well too.

it was actually easy! the runners bolt in to the top and bottom so it was just a matter of taking out the screws and prying them out.

Hardest part was getting that noctua fan into the throttle body. The bore is 82mm, so i got an 80mm fan and had to shave down practically all of the fan's frame! It's crazy snug in there!

Will it fit my honda? JK 😄

Nice build. Could hide the noctua fan on the intake with a busted butterfly valve on half throttle position

If you have a welder we'll make it fit! lol i thought about that but there just wasn't any room. Gonna try and modify a different fan to put in there so all you see is the blades

That's SICK ASF!!!!!! Was this manifold just sitting around, or was there a reason (other than looks) you chose it for? I'm shocked there haven't been more of these builds!! I've seen a few in LS blocks, but none in a manifold. (maybe when my 350 vortec kicks the bucket, I'll do one!)

please tag me for a response, It's really hard to keep tabs on every thread I reply to. thanks!!

Thanks for the props! We replaced the engine on a 2011 Mercedes GL450 with a used one, so i had this manifold that came off the old engine just sitting around. The fact that it can be taken apart easily and the internal runners can be unbolted and removed freeing up a ton of space is what made me go with it. That LS manifold would be way harder cause it doesn't seperate (well atleast not without cutting). But if you do one def post it! that would be sweet!

Nice! I'll definitely post it if I end up doing it, which all depends on my motor dying (which I don't think it will very soon). How long did it take you? What sort of modifications to the manifold (if any, other than taking it apart) had to be made to fit the motherboard?
