LTX East?

Brady AKA MrHoot2000

I know this is probably never going to happen. But I need confirmation so I don't get my hopes up. I just REALLY want an LTX east. As I live in Michigan, I am currently 39 HOURS away from Vancouver. So an LTX east would be awesome.

I really hate chemistry.

I'm in the same boat (I live in PA so its even farther for me)

Problem is its already a lot of work for the LTT team to do one convention close to home it would be even harder (If not impossible) to do one 100s of miles away.

Short answer is no  (From an external opinion)

It's not necessarily about the distance (although that is a factor), it's that it's difficult for the team to run one LTX as it is, another one would probably be too much for them to handle.

My Build (5800X3D, RTX 3070)

It probably would be a massive pain to do but having a LTX in Ontario would definitely be nice though in addition to the transportation there's the different taxes for different provinces and they don't have the ability to do a tour of their own office if they did that. But they do have some contacts in Ontario and Quebec I'm pretty sure. Dbrand is located in the Toronto area so Sudbury or whatever place in the GTA has a cheap conference centre would probably make the most sense.

  • 3 weeks later...

It would be really great if they would do a LTX in Niagara Falls for the East Coast.

That puts it extremely close to the US border for Americans that want to attend and for their logistical/tax/staff reasons is still in Canada.

Ship out a bunch of VR headsets to the convention center. Do a virtual tour.

They could potentially make things easier by planning a bunch of videos they could film in the LTX East host city. For instance, in Montreal they could visit the video game company offices; Boston has an important place in tech history, there's probably some kind of East Coast CES they could cover.

Seriously guys, LTT is in Canada and it's a lot easier to organize such an event in the place you are established,

Not to mention that LTT is a business and the amount of time, personnel and resources required for making LTX happen in the US or anywhere else is not viable.

LTX is near where LMG is HQed.
This allows them to do company tours, have their staff sleep at home, avoid crazy travel logistics, etc.

At some level... airplane ticket.

It would be impossible to accommodate everyone. Someone would always be unhappy that it wasn't near them. They have talked about this a lot on WAN. LTX is in Vancouver for a reason. It is a beautiful city. There are many other tech shows everywhere else. LTX is perfect in Vancouver. It's unique. I live in TN and make the trek. It would be crazy expensive to have it anywhere else and you wouldn't get the benefit of having all of the staff there or getting to tours the office and labs.

We'd never want to rule anything out, but LTX works well for us because of the location. While there are some difficulties associated with the expo being in Canada, this is outweighed by the benefit of having almost all our staff members participate in the expo!

If LTX continues to be a success then we would probably be able to find a way to bring an LTX-like experiences to other places in NA, but I would expect LTX to be a Vancouver-based experience until we announce otherwise.

I think @CerealExperimentsLainwas referring to the people that insist LTX move somewhere closer for their own benefit. Whereas, they could just buy a plane ticket and that be the end of it.

There was a guy a while back who suggested putting it somewhere in northeast Florida or southeast Georgia to make it centrally located to...well...him, I guess. All the same, I heartily second the motion for LTX: The Jacksonville Experience.

The one thing that is good about having it in Vancouver, Canada rather than America, is that for a lot of people who are international, it is easier to get approval for travel visas.

So if they ever do an LTX East, it needs to be in Canada.

It would be funny if OP got excited when LTT announces LTX East and found out that it is going to be happening in Taiwan. You know, the world is so much bigger than you can imagine.

How is Michigan to Vancouver 39 hours away? I do Anchorage to Oslo in 24. 34 going that way with timezones and 14 coming back with timezones and generous layovers.

Personal record was leave Oslo at 1330 pm, be delayed. Land as my plane is boarding in Amsterdam. Less than a 40 minute layover. 2 hour layover in Seattle. On the ground in Alaska by 2100 same day.

By automobile.

Detroit to Vancouver is about a 2000 mile flight, which means an SR-71 could do it in an hour or so.
