No because I need to be able to see what's on my monitor when I don't have my headphones on.

The oils from your greasy head will transfer onto the earpads, and then onto the display when you place them on your monitor.

-Oils from your skin will transfer onto the ear cups and then onto the surface of the display

-This will obscure parts of your display when the cans are not in use

-Pressure on any of the foam/cushions on a headset will deteriorate their function over time.  Long term storage of them by resting on these cushioned parts will render them less supple than new.  The ideal solution is to store them in a position where the cushion/s are not compressed in any way.  Barring that, the next best solution is to hang them in such a way that the load is distributed over a wide surface area, thereby minimizing the impact.

As others have said, it's going to transfer things to the display. I have a triple monitor arm that isn't obstructed on the left side, and I hang it on there when not in use. My old monitor was a BenQ 24" that had a retractable hanger for headsets.

No, don't do this, buy a hook and just stick it on the back of the monitor.

The primary reason you don't do this is because you'll transfer the oils from your head to the monitor and that is -impossible- to clean without damaging the monitor itself.  This is why you don't touch/poke regular monitors.

Touch-screen monitors/tablets have an extra layer of glass or plastic in front of them, which allows them to be cleaned better.

I have a hanging spot at the back of my monitor (easy to reach for me), but I don't even use that. I just put it on my desk.

Oh and no, I would never put it on my monitor like that.

I've seen lots of people put their headset over the monitor and I find it "cringe", in the parlance of our times.

Usually, I just put them somewhere convenient or on charge with the rest of the devices.

I've thought about getting a little headphone stand/charger, just more cables.

"does anyone else put their headphones on their monitor"

Me too, but only when I'm not using it (yeah, including when the monitor is switch off or the system is off or in standby mode).

I have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

I've been thinking about 1 of those, I don't like the ones that hangs it in front of the desk, but under the desk would be cool. My desk has a full metal frame, so plenty of connecting points, probably print something myself.

I don't currently have a monitor I use for gaming but I will get one soon. I have already decided that I will buy a dedicated headphone stand and the comments above about oils have definetly cemented that.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
I'm learning video editing and trying to get some cash as a high school student.
I like F1, my favourite team is Scuderia Ferrari and favourite driver is Charles Leclerc. Favourite track is Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Playing with a 1080p 60hz monitor right now, hoping to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz one soon.

Living in AU and that pisses me off since every event is late at night or early in the morning (almost every F1 race starts around 11 PM AEST time)

I used to do this, but now have a hook that I mounted underneath my desk.

It's really not a problem if it doesn't bother you.

Makes far more sense to hang them on your mic boom.  Of course, if you have a big enough desk in the first place, and aren't cluttering it with your PC tower, fap tissues and pizza rolls---you probably have room to place the cans directly on the desk surface.

Mine just uses the thickest 3m tape I have ever seen

I keep my headphones on my boom arm for my microphone. It's off to the side and out of the way. Whenever I use the microphone, I use my headphones so I swing it over, grab the headphones and get to chit chattin'.
