6G internet ready to use in the UK

G_K

Summary

all city’s around the uk even Blackpool have speed of 20-30mbps and now there aiming to get 1gb’s speeds or even 6gb’s there turning it on for the first time for the queen’s jubilee

Quotes

Quote

Residents in Blackpool will be some of the first in the UK to access the next generation of ultrafast broadband, which will be delivered wirelessly and capable of reaching speeds of 6,000 Mbps

My thoughts

Not sure if this will actually be good internet as I have experienced during the day 1-4mbps on a 5G phone, and now there is banners saying 6G even tho there isn’t such thing as a 6G phone

It'll still be 20-30mbps they'll just call it a 6gb service and charge more for it while legally getting away with blatant throttling. Might as well call it 100gb service

Colour me very sceptical, I really don't want my static buildings ISP connection to be tied to an RF signal, and all the environmental factors that can affect that, which are outside of my suppliers, or my, direct control.

More of a "fiber to the node" of ISPs 😄

(it's always fiber to the node)

What is with the obsession of ever faster wireless speed like that... For the majority of people, LTE is more than fast enough. We don't need 5G to watch youtube or tiktok videos. Even for content creation and streaming, it's plenty fast. The ones who truly benefit from 5G and this 6G, are not the everyday Joe or Jane for sure. (for context my phone plan is up to 3G speeds only, fast.com says I have about 3Mbps of download speed... Can still watch 1080p youtube)

I swear this is just an excuse by big telecoms to increase their pricing "well we updated the network to FASTER speeds!... Even though 90% of the users probably won't see a difference in their day to day usage".

Even 3G HSPA+ is faster than my home internet, like come on.

Whoever is marketing a 6G network is a scammer and should get jailed. 3GPP is the standards body responsible for releasing new mobile standards, and there is none after 5G/NR.

6g internet is NOT the mobile "6g" but just an ISP in the UK named 6g Internet. It has zero affiliation with the Mobile standards and the Article linked and sourced is 4 years old. Hardly news worthy of just an ISP launching services.
