So I have 2x Corsair ML140 fans just sitting around and gathering dust, because I don't have any commander units.

But I thought of making an adapter, and apparently you could adapt the corsair molex connector to 5v 3pin RGB.

Because I have 2 fans, I am thinking of making 1 adaptor with a splitter. It should work fine right? Someone on corsair forum said they got it working alright, but when set to white at 100% it could cause problems?

Tutorials I looked at:

i have a guide on it. can also just buy cables too. or cut them off and put a stander argb connector on it too.

My memory is the bulbs are made by lighting companies that are older and had already done the whole proprietary connector thing 50 years ago.  (Guess what? Standards are better for everyone.  Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it) They have an agreed upon standard. As such if you can get past connector stupidity with an adaptor and there’s no “we intend to screw the customer” microchip inside the fan that just says “no” unless correctly branded things are attached (a reason apple gets such terrible press) they should just work.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
