LTT Backpack Release Date

TieThatBinds

Ever since Linus "unveiled" the backpack that's been in R&D for a while, I've been wanting one. My current backpack is thrashed and I've been looking to get a quality replacement.

Besides Linus saying that its going to be $200+ USD(which is just fine, as I'd think of it as an investment if its high quality), I haven't heard much about it, and was wondering if anyone else knows anything or has an update, or even a guesstimate.

Thanks ahead of time!

As an Addendum, is there a possibility we could get a pre-order setup for these?

At the very least, have a poll put out to gauge the demand for the backpack would be, so the Merch team would know how many are needed to be manufactured.

They've talked about it on WAN Show, but I don't remember the specifics on what Linus said the timeline was looking like right now. They talked about it last week IIRC.

IIRC, it's far enough from final production that if you're in need of a backpack somewhat soon (like it sounds like you are) to just buy a different one. That said, go back to the WAN show (I think last week, it might be the week before) to see the latest update. They talk about it right after sponsors so you know when to look for it.

Also, I'm pretty sure he said price is gonna be closer to $400, not $200, so take that into account for buying it.

I think they're changing a couple things on it, which likely means it hasn't really entered production. With shipping, current delays, port closures and strikes, you're probably looking at about 3 or 4 months. As others have said, I think you're probably looking at closer to $300+ for this guy.

Though, you can always tag @LinusTech, maybe he's lurking in the shadows.

I am expecting it to cost between $250-$300 USD.

It will be very competitive in terms of build quality in this price range and designed for folks like me who like to carry a lit of crap but don't want a huge, ugly hiking style backpack.

It is probably 6 months out and we will not take pre-orders. That way there will be no pressure on me to deliver it on time. Our whole team believes in doing it right rather than doing it fast, so we will just try to order what we need and if we get it wrong... then I guess you better order right away 😛

We are ordering 10s of thousands of this one tho. I am extremely confident that this product will absoluately slay - especially once people get hands on with it and start writing reviews.

How good would you say it'd work as carry on luggage for mostly clothes plus a laptop? I noticed on WAN you mentioned it fit perfectly into the carry on restrictions, which is a huge plus for me; I never check baggage.

Also, only slightly related, I love the WAN hoodie but...hate orange. It's incredibly hard to pair with other colours. Any plans for other colorways coming?

Just gotta say, I love the way the merch is heading; less in your face branding, and awesome design.

It will be fairly competitive I think. I have a Bellroy backpack which is a fair bit cheaper and high quality with some tech consideration, but nowhere near as smartly laid out and compartmentalised nor designed solely for tech carry.

My biggest problems have always been laptop/tablet sleeves in a fully loaded backpack bending a tablet (especially new iPads) when I arch my back or otherwise move funny. So I’ve switched to a tote for travel with my tablet and will probably be getting an LTT backpack once the full layout is shown.

It's designed for me, so basically exactly what you're describing 😛

We sacrificed a lot of internal pockets to have a "bag of holding" within the bag that allows you to just huck all your bulky stuff in it.

As for other WAN colorways, we just got back new samples of a short circuit variant that is going to rock your world. It's definitely a little flashier, but it's *super* cool.

Can't wait, my current backpack's handle is coming apart and I've got a downgrade set aside if the worst happens. I'd been looking previously but hadn't seen anything compelling. My daily carry as a level 2 travelling tech is a 15.6" Laptop (Dell G15) w/ charger, sometimes an iPad and/or Macbook Air, several bags of cables, dongles, adapters, a full sized water bottle, headphones, iFixit kit and GN tools.

I can't explain how much I need something comfortable with good storage.

I think it was a good idea to have pockets for your laptop, tablet and handheld console. A spot for all your tech items.

Certainly going to be interesting to see what the reviews say of this backpack...

I wonder if there are going to be multiple style options? There must be, right?

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

Pockets have a structural 'weight' cost and bulge in ways that can reduce the size of a large pouch

What about the small inside pockets that wouldn't interfere contents of a large pouch

To the backpack I would then still have a question.

Will it also offer some kind of convertible function? Say that you can use the alternatively as a backpack or messenger bag? Is there something planned?

As soon as i saw the bag i started saving for it. I cannot wait. I need a new bag and it has everything i need. I also love the idea of a bundle. Bag, bottle, screwdriver, shirt etc. That should like it could be fun. Like a mini Christmas! Except i have to pay for it myself...lol

I was thinking about waiting for the LTT backpack but at 250-300 dollars that's way out of what I was expecting to pay. Not going to argue the 'worth' or 'value' of it at that price just too rich for me personally. Anyone have any less expensive suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Everything on LTT store is about supporting the channel, not about value.  I don't know that I've ever seen something "competitive" on price.  That's just kind of the known quantity.

I haven't seen the features on this LTT backpack.  I can say I'm happy as a pig in mud with my Targus.

Haha, perfect. Part of me is glad it's still a bit out, I'm moving back to Deadmonton in a couple of months and most of my play money is going to that (and an LTT pillow for the new living room set).

Hopefully on one of the upcoming WAN shows (this week, maybe? 😉) the Short Circuit variant can make an appearance! Love to see it.
