What prebuilt is it exactly (DELL, HP or something else)? Knowing this will give everyone a sense of what exactly we are dealing with and what an upgrade path might look like. Some OEM pre-builts have very few expansion slots and not enough or proprietary connectors on the power supply which might limit what you can upgrade to. Otherwise said, your PSU might be 500W, but might not have the proper connectors to add a graphics card, which would mean that you need to factor in the budget for a new power supply as well (if at least the form factor is standard).

In addition to that, what about system memory and storage? How much RAM do you currently have and what is the number of the DIMM slots on the board? Do you have an SSD?

since hte psu model is unknown you should go with low power gpu. like gt 1650, 1650 super or older cards like gtx 1050ti or 970 will crush the gt710 you have in there.

also get a ssd if you do not have that already

What exact psu model is that? That will determine what you can do as if you have a bad psu that needs to be upgraded first. Otherwise you can easily end up with a dead computer.

Did you buy a cheap amazon, ebay,... pc labeled for gaming? Because this thing is serverly crippled due to a gt 710 which is barely a office use gpu at this point. The typical semi scam sellers pull.

you can get a used 1080 on ebay for 400

What happened to your 1030?

Either way that is a psu for the trash as it's a bundled with the case one.

For 500-600 you can easily get a msi mpg, Enermax revolution d.f. or corsair rm(x) 650w psu and well any pretty great gpu.

That case does kinda suck for airflow and is very restrictive for gpu size. So I would advice you to get a cheap better case like a phanteks p300a or p360a (all mesh front cases). They are about 60$.

So that would mean about 140$ in total for a new GOOD case and EXCELLENT quality psu.

So plenty budget left for a decent card

Yeah if they want to bow up their pc they can get a 1080 with that psu. That psu has to go it's literally a psu that came with the case it's horrible.

If you know very little as you say start simple a GTX 1650 and an additional 8GB stick of memory, preferable the same make and model already installed.

long term you will want to replace the CASE, PSU and GPU (RTX 4000 or RX 7000-XT when released) but do the easy upgrade for now.

Basically you leave only the CPU and the mobo. Everything else has to go. First the noname PSU, then the suffocating case, then add one more stick of the same RAM or if you can't find one, buy a kit of 2x8GB; DON'T go for a single stick. An NVMe boot drive will be excellent upgrade, then add 2TB HDD and use that SSD you have for caching of that drive. Last is the GPU. I'm saying last, although it's the 2nd most important upgrade after the PSU, because atm it's more likely to win the lottery than find a GPU at any sane price. Whatever you can find at the level of GTX 1070 or above will be ok.

| Ryzen 7 5800X3D | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 Rev 7| AsRock X570 Steel Legend |

| 4x16GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo 4000MHz CL16 | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT | Seasonic Focus GX-1000|

| 512GB A-Data XPG Spectrix S40G RGB | 2TB A-Data SX8200 Pro| Phanteks Eclipse G500A |
