[US] [Amazon] AKG PRO K712 almost 50% off!

da na

AKG K712's are only $400 instead of $750 on Amazon currently. I'd call that a pretty good deal. Extremely nice, high - end studio open-backs.

Amazon.com: AKG Pro Audio K712 PRO Over-Ear, Open-Back, Flat-Wire, Reference Studio Headphones : Musical Instruments

I wasn't overly impressed with the AKGs I had. They're ok but nothing special and the earpads attract dust and lint like nothing else.

I own some K240s (not the old ones, the refresh) and they're not too bad. Good to know though.

The stock pads on my HD650's, that I hardly wear, are probably just as bad then. Absolutely everything seems to stick to them.

I wish I had somewhere nearby where I could try headphones. Never tried open backs, but AKG seems like they overprice their stuff when all of their models are pretty much identical.

The only time these were listed at full price was on Christmas 2014. This isn't a "pretty good deal", it's just their average price on Amazon...and where did you get $750 from?

Yeah, I wouldn't bother putting a ton of money into AKGs though. IMO there's better options.

Yeah, I can't stand materials like that. I mean, you can probably buy aftermarket pads, but the headphones weren't anything to write home about to begin with.

I'm not a huge fan of open back headphones. I like an impactful bass, and you just don't really get that with open backs.

I think it'll be a couple years before we see places where we can try things like that at least. Then even longer, given that headphones are a rather niche market.
