Do clicky switches get annoying?

KazooKiddo

I am planning to get razer green switches and I enjoy the clicky sound but does it get annoying after like 6 months.

Depends on the person. No one can answer this for you, you'll just have to find out for yourself.

I can't stand Blue switches. They irritate me to no end. Had a keyboard with Blues, stopped using it after 45 minutes and sold it the next day.

Nah, If you are like me and like the sound as an auditory feedback thing, then it wont get old. I honestly don't even think about clicks anymore. However if you hate the sound, you won't ever really get used to it.

I love the GX Blue switches on my G513 Carbon. I just love the sound when I start typing away quickly, kinda like right now. I used to use a MX Silent switch keyboard but I had a hard time distinguishing between when I actuated the key or not.

to yourself? maybe? personally I've been brute forcing and bottoming out keys since I learned to type, clicks or typing noises are cathartic for me

to others? also maybe, it can be pretty damn annoying for some

Doesn't matter how hard you type. With clicky switches, it will click at the same volume whether you type softly or bottom out the keys on each keystroke, though the sound from the keys bottoming out can be loud.

As others have said, it really depends on the person. I like the tactile bump but hate clicky switches so I use tactile but non-clicky MX Browns. It's also worth noting that you might want to consider others if you'll be using the keyboard in an office setting at some point. Where I work (when we worked in an office, before Covid), clicky switches are banned because it annoys everyone else as all you can hear is the constant high pitched clicking coming from someone's keyboard across the room.

I'm rigged for silent running but I don't want to disturb other people in my house.

Clicky switches are nice if you want it or are into retro gaming.  I was raised on clicky switches but I find them strange now.

I also like less throw in my key for when I'm pwning noobs in warzone

I have actually used Cherry Blue switches for past 4+ years till the sound and tactility started bothering me recently. I still don't like Cherry browns, I find it a tad too light and the tactile bump to be too soft to help, yet too noticeable to be negligible. (The bump doesn't help me)

While I still dislike Cherry Reds and Razer linear keys (I find them too light and mushy), I actually prefer the Kailh (GX Red) Red switches on my Logitech keyboard I just gotten (which I tried on a demo set).

There is a noticeable increase in resistance and no distracting tactile bump which I feel helps to encourage a smoother typing experience. Also allows better key repetition when it comes to games and quieter typing as well. Maybe this is the answer to the popularity of linear switches like Tangerine, Konpeitou, and Gateron Yellow etc. I just prefer a linear that needs ~50cN actuation force.

I have had my Cherry MX Blue keyboard since 2013. The sound doesnt bother me. Though I have been considering downsizing my keyboard. Most likely with Cherry MX blue switches.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I don't get annoyed at all. In fact I want my Keyswtiches to be both Clicky and Tactile and pronounced at that.
