Cannot locate the SATA power connection on Asrock Asrock B450M

Putting together my 1st build, and I cannot find where to plug in the seat of power connector from my power supply. I've read my motherboard manual and watched a half dozen videos on YouTube but no one shows where the plug that in clearly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only cpu 4/8 pin and 24 pin motherboard connector gets plugged into motherboard. Sata plugs directly into hard drive or ssd. Some fans also use sata power.

 

Will also need sata data cable to the hard drive from the motherboard

SATA power goes to SATA drives (hard drive, SSD, or optical). If you don't have any of those, you don't need to plug it in anywhere.

If you're using a SSD or HDD, the power will come from the PSU. The larger of the two connectors will be for power. The smaller is for the data cable that goes to one of these four ports on the right side of your motherboard.

 Perfect. That's exactly what i needed.  I have the drive plugged into the motherboard, but didn't realize the power goes directly into the drive. I don't know how I missed that, but you definitely just saved me a bunch of time. Much appreciated!

Only the SATA Data plugs onto the motherboard.

The other end of the SATA Data, and SATA Power goes to the HDD / SSD / device you want to connect.

If you can get to your BIOS, look for a setting along the lines of "Network boot" or "PXE" and ensure it's disabled. Check boot order and remove any network options.

Man, you're really helping me out here. That fixed it, but now I am being prompted to select propper boot device. I went to the boot menu selected the only device listed, and it is still giving me that prompt when I reboot

Have you installed an operating system (Windows, etc.)?

I have windows 10 on a flash drive plugged in to the PC but haven't gotten to a screen where I can install it.

Did you create the install drive using the Windows tool?

Where are you plugging the usb drive into? You may not have connected the case usb to the motherboard. Plug the USB into the back of the pc and see if it works

Yes, that did it!  Soon as that mean the USB port that I had it plugged into originally will not work?

It has to be connected to the motherboard. There is a cable from the case to the motherboard. Is it USB 2.0 or 3.0?

  Actually I know it has to be connected to the motherboard because that's where my peripherals are hooked into. I had moved them around with the flash drive to see if maybe one of them was dead but they all worked for my keyboard and mouse.  Is there any reason it wouldn't work for a flash drive but would for other USB powered devices?

Some motherboards are finicky when it comes to booting from USB. A flash drive should work for data once you are in windows
