This is the saddest thing I have seen today... Verified Actual Gamer reselling their LTT 3080 for $2200 on reddit

ducdat231

The user himself confirmed that he got it from LTT store (see screenshot). This is so sad to see, the LTT team invested so much time and effort for people to do such a thing.

If someone could tag Linus in so he's aware that would be great.

Well, at least it wasn't malicious, if he's telling the truth. It's entirely possible he got over his head with the cost of the card. However, selling it at scalped prices is a dick move. At least sell it for what you paid, and pass it on.

Yah, I'm a gamer and a cyclist. I would like to have something to replace my 3770K or my 10 year old bike. I don't see the issue.

Haha they only put that there so they can feel a little better about scalping.

Same guy; he didn't seem upset about it on the  WAN show.

I agree there is no way LTT can verify the buyer is an actual gamer. It's just so messed up that you just take advantage of other's goodwill and brazenly confirm that the gpu you are scalping is from LTT. Broke my heart man

Applies for a GPU from a program intended to keep them away from scalping, gets a GPU for MSRP, immediately tries to flip it on Reddit for $2,200 and doesn't see the issue.

You can do whatever you want with your card but you have to at least acknowledge how bad the optics of this are from the POV of others.

Appears to be the case here and its not for the faint of heart.

Once they get their hands on the graphics card, LTT can't really do anything afterwards, but to take advantage of a situation that LTT is doing to help gamers out get graphics cards is pretty sad.

If someone from LTT is actually mad about it I'll take it down but I don't see the issue with being a gamer and using the program in this way.

You bought a what, $800/$1000 GPU knowing you didn't want or need it solely with the intent of doubling your money by flipping it under the guise of needing the cash for a new PC.

If you knew you couldn't use it then why did you apply for it?

You could have spent the $1000 on your PC and let the GPU go to someone who would have made use of it instead of trying to scalp it for a quick profit.

Edit - Seems like this is a pointless endeavour. You only made your account here so you could ask for a free CPU and over on Reddit you tried to buy a Titan Z that at the time was worth $800 for $300 claiming you needed it for a school project.

Obvious scalper is obvious.

I was hoping to work my way up to a better PC like they do in scrapyard wars. I don't see how this is different. FWIW it was $1400 landed.

Dude you're not using the program in the way it was meant to be used at all. You're doing the exact opposite. It was intended to be a goodwill gesture to combat some scalping, yet you then scalp the card and don't see the issue with it?!?!

I don't know anyone at LMG personally, but if I had set up this program I'd be pretty damn upset about this, and also livid.

Not at all, you have a very clear history of trying to get free or cheap computer parts, both from here & Reddit. You knew exactly what you were doing when you applied.

I think the lesson here is that regardless of the kindness of others there will always be people who take advantage of it.

Going forward the most important thing is that others learn from it. Some people learn by being told , but others need a more tangible example , so this would be that example.

Expecting the gpu's to actually make it to the hands of those who needed them was never going to be 100% perfect. So long as the majority did then at least the program did some good.

Well said.

Still, as good of an example of that as it may be, it is very sad to see that LTTs goodwill has gone to waste here. As difficult as it is to make giveaways and things of this sort perfect, the intention was there to have it benefit the community, and this guy just swooped in and ruined the purpose entirely.

I can see this guy being a kid, maybe between 15 and 20, looking to make a quick buck off of somebody else's back, which would make sense given their past behaviour, trying to get hardware off of people for free or offensively low prices.

Why should the community be inclined to trust you when you abused their goodwill?
