I knew about Bowie before he died. I had watched AHS (American Horror Story) Freak Show, where one of the performers (Elsa Mars [Jessica Lange]) covered Life On Mars? by Bowie and that's sort of what got me into him. Though I didn't own many of his albums or know too much about his other works (besides Life on Mars? and a few other tracks, like Ashes to Ashes and Space Oddity)
