F*ck Microsoft

lfk

I am so sick of Microsoft and Edge.  I just updated Edge and it wiped all my personalization settings.  Even removed the installed extensions and worst of all put me back to that POS Bing search engine.  I'm so sick of this cr*p from MS.

Anyone recommend an alternate browser that is good on security and not a complete and total f*cking POS?

I switched to Opera in November. I'm loving it so far. Close enough to Chrome to be familiar to people that use it, Chromium based so you can use Chrome extensions.

I'm not 100% sure their track record on being...secure..

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Ah the age old meme of Chrome eating more RAM than Firefox. Even though nowadays it's literally the other way around.

Not that I would know after switching like 6 months ago or anything, noticing a healthy reduction in RAM usage.

IMO RAM is cheap and plentiful. If your browser eats it it just means your system isn't adequate for your workload. :3

I have 22 Chrome tabs open.
I'm using 1.3GB of RAM.

Windows is using more RAM than Chrome.

Chrome does not use more RAM than any other modern browser. Your jokes are a decade late.

While it's difficult to avoid Microsoft,  there's really no excuse to use edge however, unless you like it or something.

Yes, that's usually what happens when you make a shitty joke that comes off as a sincere thought from a lack of /jk or /s at the end of it.

You know, because it's text, and emotion doesn't translate through text well at all.

I use hardened configs of Ungoogled Chromium (primary) and Firefox (uni work and Discord alt). Both have worked wonderfully for me. Firefox might be better however, since it lets you set a password to encrypt saved logins and lets you block known tracking cookies or all 3rd party cookies as opposed to Chromium which only offers blocking 3rd party cookies altogether which can cause certain sites to not work (which is another reason I use Firefox for uni work).

I'm using https://github.com/henrypp/chrlauncher to handle updates for Ungoogled Chromium. Just make sure you edit the config file to use the ungoogled fork.
