What? Ive read this 4 or 5 time and still don't understand.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

NVMe is a standard at which storage drives can communicate.

We only have NVMe SSDs though because we don't have HDDs small enough to fit.

So your question doesn't work.

I am not sure about what you mean. Are you afraid that a SATA SSD will bottleneck an nvme one? That's not how it works though

This question doesn't make sense, because NVME is just a storage technology. A storage technology M.2 PCIE SSD's use.

Ever "NVME" is an SSD, not every SSD is an NVME, so to speak.

That means an SSD is anything, from a cheap QLC SATA drive, to a fast PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD, so "same level as SSD" is not something that exists.

Restructure your question and use actual examples of the SSD's your talking about and  the motherboard you're talking about, since that can affect the speeds any SSD can run at.

This isn't true. Each drive works at their own rated speeds only limited by the connection youhave them plugged into

Right now in the tech world Nvme Is Pretty Cheap and will actually "boost" your pc's preformance. but using both could confuse the system and potentially slow your system.

This doesn't really make sense. Could you rephrase your question or provide us with an example of what exactly you mean in order for us to understand better.

These rumors are false.

NVMe/PCIe and SATA are independent standards without converters.

Yes. I have two NMVe drives, a normal SATA SSD and HDD all connected to my rig. No issues whatsoever.

If I can use 1 NVMe SSD, 1 SATA SSD, and 4 SATA HDDs, you're fine.

The only thing to keep in mind is a lot of motherboards will disable a regular SATA port or two when you use a M.2.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Stopped after first few - you will always communicate to the lowest common denominator (someone correct me if wrong) so if you are moving files from an NVMe SSD to a SATA SSD it will work to the slowest one, which would be the SATA SSD (most commonly unless shit NVMe drive).

If somehow you were working on a file that was spread between 2 drives (NVMe speeds and SATA SSD speeds for example) and wasnt transfer intensive, I dont think you would see a difference (can you even do that?  I cant think of a use case where you could)

It is possible I suppose that you could have a mix of drive types in a Microsoft Storage Spaces setup, so not sure what effect that would have on the individual drive speeds, would all drives communicate at the speed of the slowest device, since it is a form of RAID?
