Is there anyplace I can go to report the ip address?

Someone tried to login my steam account. I've changed my password.

It's so easy to bounce an IP address that its basically useless info.

Also if you simply reboot your router you get a new IP address, so even if they blocked that IP it wouldn't do anything.

you can report on I think spamhaus, if there's enough reports it will likely get the IP banned.

you can either get a static or dynamic or sticky IP, most people have dynamic at the moment. If you have dynamic restarting the router will change your IP.

i have sticky  mine doesnt change

sticky you can change manually without calling your ISP, usually through the http admin control panel.

Most ISPs these days provide dynamic IPs unless you have a business account or something.

Some IPS do give static IPs though.

My router has a button in the settings that renews and gives you a new IP.

The IP and country are there merely to give you heads up. Since the note can also come from you trying to login on hotel Wifi or public wifi. Its not recognized as IP you normally use and flagged because of that.

 

The IP and country alone don't give anything to go with. Valve does have more complete details, like service provider, so they could take more drastic actions if needed.

Most ISPs, in the US at least, will tie it to the WAN MAC address of your router or their gateway device to the IP address assigned to your account.
