Work, Repair some stuff for family and friends and ask some money for the jobs and I buy some used hardware and build computers and sell them with a llittle profit.

I go to BTEC and get £30 a week. plus money i've saved. Need to sell some things though. 

 

Didn't ask my parents for any money. 

 

EMA or whatever they have decided to call it these days?

 

I was so jealous when I was in college of people who got this.  My parents earnt more than the upper bracket for it but couldn't afford to give me £30 a week.  I had to work nights and weekends to have any money.

I starved for a few weeks. lol. but seriously, I did. That being said I did work hard for my build. Sadly, it's still a fairly budget build, but I'm a strong believer in not going into debt, especially for things that aren't really a good investment.

 

My current setup cost a bit over $2,250 with peripherald, although most I just reused.

 

My parents didn't spend a dime on me that I didn't have to pay back growing up. I actually commend them on it. It gives you a sense of "the real world" at a young age. Although, I'm not sure if it was intentional or just the fact that we were dirt poor growing up. Either way I guess it worked out.

Yup EMA. It's not too bad. Although work pays more.

I had a previous AIO (Lenovo K450) which I took the HDD out of so 60 GBP saved. The rest I bought on Christmas and bought the rest with the help of my parents.

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

My CPU, MotherBoard, HDD, PSU, and Case were my HS graduation present(I still payed for some of it). My GPU(s), Monitors, keyboard, mouse, and random other things I've added where all payed by me.

About 13 years of chores, allowance, and saving money and spent about 80% of my saved money on my Titan lite (you can see the build here) which is my really cool little rig and is going to be upgraded with an R9 270 before it's fully completed. So in all the money I've spent now is around $470 and with the future R9 270, about $600.

 

Let's just say we're not the richest family  :)

 

Still my PC is definitely not to complain. I love my Titan lite  :D

Hah funny story actually.

I was planning to spend around $1000 on my build, which is what I saved up and had on hand.

But then, I wanted to get just that part, and just a few $ more here and a few there and combine that with the taxes and import cost to my country, not to mention currency convertion and I spend about 1200€ which is about $1500 by that time's exchange rate. 

Also did I mention I destroyed my Razer DeathStalker which set me back about $125 on a used BlackWidow.

And a few months after the PC was finally perfected, it was time for a monitor upgrade.

I have a student job. Most of my money gets split between my computers and my Nazi memorabilia collection. They are the reasons why I don't have a car yet! :P

 

As far as how much I paid for my main build, I'd rather not know, but PCPartPicker evaluates it at 2680 CAD. That doesn't take into account past discounts though. Also, I have a 1800$ retina Macbook Pro for University.

I'm unemployed so it was a combination of birthday and Christmas money, and whatever little goverment pittance I managed to put aside after bills. It's not actually finished though, still has a lot of old parts that are just place-holders. Been nearly three years in progress and only about $600 into a $2000* build. By the time I finally finish it, it'll be worth less than a third of what I paid for it.

 

*Two grand in Australia, only $1400 for the exact same build in the US.  :angry:

Took me a couple years to save up for the GPU and stuff, but luckily in mid-2013 a check like came in for me, that was apparently for me before I was born?? I'm not sure, got like £200 and I thought I was so lucky xD so managed to get a few components with that, which is why i'm hopeful this PC don't break til I start working :3

At the time of the first build (2012), it was 90% my parents buying the parts for me (standard 12 year old stereotype). Any upgrades were funded by eBay sales and allowance (plus b-day and xmas $). I was able to buy my 980 because of eBay sales and Christmas money. Initial cost of the build: around $1,500. Total spent to this day: around $2,500.
