there is no shop sell isopropyl alcohol here

If you can't find isopropyl, look to see if you can find injection swabs, they should be readily available most places I would imagine, they contain the same fluid, just soaked into the material. Use one or 2 for removal of existing TIM, then try to get as clean as possible and let dry... takes a few seconds.

No, because they also contain moisturizing agents like glycerin which will just make things nasty. And because it's hydroscopic, it'll attract moisture which is bad for electronics of any kind. Also because glycerin is sticky, dust will bind to it making things even worse. Only use isopropyl alcohol or something like +90% ethanol. Nothing else.

This. Never anything with additives in it.

Where do you live, that might narrow down some choices for you... someone else on the forums might live there too, and know of a place to get some.

I've used hand sanitizer to clean some CPUs for some builds i did for family, but I noticed a lot of em had low alcohol and higher water content. So apart from using a lot of that stuff, i didnt face any issues.

Isopropyl alcohol can also be called Isopropanol (or even propan-2-ol and 2-propanol). Same thing, different naming scheme. Or you can use ethanol of highest % you can get. From what I heard, ethanol is actually preferred over isopropyl when cleaning PCB's. Forgot why exactly tho...

If you can't get isopropyl alcohol, get regular alcohol or better yet, acetone. Make sure you use the latter in a well vented place.

Cleaning the surface of a chip is preferred, but not required; honestly.

Don't let the 'perfect' be the enemy of the 'good'. Don't use harsh chemicals. If you don't have rubbing alcohol (isopropyl), a dry paper towel will do just fine. Just rub until no more residue shows up on the paper. You don't need to apply strong force, so don't do that or you will risk pulling a Linus and dropping it. In fact, it's best to clean dry while still mounted in the socket.

If you can't find isopropyl, try looking for something like 150-190 proof Everclear or grain alcohol. Essentially the same thing.

Nope, that's not recommended, you can get away with it but it's a very aggressive chemical that can easily damage things and even dissolve things like plastic.

In that case it would be really better just to clean it dry with some tissues / paper...
