Ants inside my monitor screen

LukeIsLoveLukeIsLife

For some reason, there are ants inside my monitor screen, and there are a lot of them. I have tried hitting the monitor and hoping that they'll get out. No luck. Right now I'm trying something with sweets so that they'll be attracted to it, still no luck. What should I do?

Buy a new monitor.

Seriously, these things are super hard to get out. You could try taking apart the monitor, but other than that I have no idea if there's any way to get rid of them.

Some of them could have already died, which means that they won't move no matter how many sweets you give them.

try applying gentle heat (like warm, not hot) to the screen, hopefully they'll get out of there

i dont recommend putting out your monitor to the sun though, maybe a hair dryer from some distance?

again, dont overheat it

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

This shit happened to me as well.

Luckily it were only 2, one I got out using the same method like getting ait bubbles out of your screen protector, the other one is in a corner so not too much of a bother.

But those are so many, I dont think it will be possible to get them ou that way

Now that's a first. I do have ant problem inside house sometimes, guess these found a warm spot...

They are clearly not looking for food in there, so taking the screen apart is the only way.

I would dissasemble the monitor and give it a go with an air compressor, or something like this:

  • 1 year later...

i found a pretty easy way to get em out.

step1: open up your monitor cables.
step2: find the source of entry(it can also be the power or hdmi cable's female pin.)

step3: vaccum that area/hole using a standard vaccum cleaner.

step4: after you see the ants have come out plug in the cables.

additional step: if the ant entered via any other gap/hole it can be covered with some sticky tape.

Bad advice, most openings are there for a reason, for example cooling.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

1st of all are you sure they are real ? Can you manage to see them when the screen is off, or plugged into a different device ?

2nd, you need to deal with an underlying problem first. Why are there ants in your house ? Deal with that 1st. Seriously get it sorted.

3rd, Once ur sure they are indeed real, and you have worked out where they have come from and acted accordingly to remove them and ensure they or any other bugs cant return, you can either disassemble the display, or by a new one.
