how long has the timer been running since apple approved that update before they actually realise?

(because man i hope they go down that slippery slope and get the pushback from devs on selectively enforcing app store monetisation restrictions)

@Slick @LinusTech

Thanks for propper include.
Yeah also thought how long it will take... Althought I don't think they WILL block it. Might be too big?

This is pretty big news. I doubt Epic Games managed to sneak this past Apple. So chances are they managed to convince Apple into accepting in-app payments. If they allow it for Epic, then maybe they will start opening it up for other apps too.

If Epic direct payment is cheaper

Guess which option most people will use?

Definitely a perk of being too popular to remove from the app store. Preferential treatment is nothing new. Maybe we'll start seeing this on some other top grossing apps? It'll be interesting to see where this goes, but I wouldn't expect the small guys to be able to negotiate this any time soon.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I doubt this will go down well with Apple (that is, if they haven't worked out some deal behind closed doors). Both Google and Apple have certainly been hard on other apps trying to do the same thing. Then again, as BobVonBob says, it would make Apple very unpopular if they removed Fortnite from the App Store.

The stream running on the Fortnite Twitch channel is something else... I guess that's one way to approach things.
