Did I Just Beat An Overclocking Record?

So I was busy overclocking my Corsair Venegance LPX 3000 RAM, and I cranked the voltages up to 1.4, and managed to push 3400mhz out of the memory.

I wanted to get to 3500mhz, so I set the voltages to 1.42, and managed to get 3600mhz out of the ram. I could probably push it higher, but I haven't tried yet.

I'm using the stock cooling, with no ram cooler on top. Am I just getting really happy about my overclock or have I really set a new record?

I can provide evidence if you guys want, just tell me what app I should screenshot.

somebody overclocked the ram to over 6000mhz. 3400mhz is really slight overclock. my 3600mhz ram overclocks to 4200mhz stable

Well you won't be able to get to 5-6ghz plus due to the boards topology, the IC's on the ram and the imc sadly.

Just now, JayBe said:

due to the lack of liquid nitrogen

Um ram doesn't consume that much power nor does it get that hot.

Maybe you'll need an 80mm fan at it at worst but that's it.

non-ECC non-Rdimm ddr4 really doesnt draw a lot of power, you could run your sticks without the heatsinks on and it would be fine

you are just getting happy in regards to the overclock. you are far from setting a record sadly. you can quite easily and "cheapily" get better kits for overclocking, that run faster out of the box(XMP).

Spoiler

also worth noting, what timings? speed isnt everything

There are two classes of record. 1, best of the best, which wont be the case here. 2, best in some limited scenario. You may be able to limit the scenario enough that this is a record, for what it is worth. For example, I can safely say, I'm the best overclocker in my house.

Getting 3000 ram to 3600 is a good result, but do verify carefully it is stable if you want to keep running at these settings.

If you want to get serious into looking at ram, you can try to find more information about it like what chips are used, using software tools like Thaiphoon Burner. Once you know what chips are in the ram, you can compare your results with what others are getting with similar.

Stay under 1.3V on both for 24/7 use, though you won't need even close to 1.3V for the speeds you're running your memory at anyway.

Also keep your DRAM voltage under 1.5V, especially since you're running fairly bog standard ICs.
