Please suggest a graphic card upgrade for GTX970

A while back I had purchased a 144hz(1080p) monitor, and I'm totally loving it but on certain games I'm not able to take advantage of it fully as my system is not pumping out required FPS always. Especially since I had started streaming I am noticing fps drops while using OBS.
I was really thinking about going ahead with RTX2060 Super, and I had got a lot sugesstion to go for 2070S. Would I be able to run these on my current PSU? I'm not planning to upgrade more than one component now.
 

btw getting constant 144FPS is not a requirement for singeplayer titles, and 1080p gaming is only in mind right now.

Current specs:

• CPU - Intel i7 6700k
• Motherboard - Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
• GPU - Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB DDR5
• RAM - Kingston HyperXFury - 8gbx2
• PSU - Seasonic 520W S12ii PSU

 

Games I play:

• Apex Legends
• Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019)

do you have a budget for the upgrade? if you are looking for something high end, would strongly suggest waiting for nvidia ampere.

You can run a 2070 super on your PSU yes. But you probably should upgrade it.

2070S would almost be overkill for just 1080p. 2060 super or 1660 super would be good imo. 

 

I would also consider waiting for the new launches in a couple of months to see if there are any good options then

Nah not overkill if you want a competetive edge over others. If he wants to upgrade he can upgrade a big step and actually have this rig for a longer time since games are more demanding.

By the way. Either you mean the i5 6600k or the i7 6700k?

if your running a 6600k that is likely holding you back more than your GPU. your going to need to move to ryzen. intel 6700/7700ks are too much

Like you mentioned the plan is to have keep this rig for a litle more longer. My plan is to do a fully fresh build maybe after 3-5 years, that's one reason why I dont upgrade more than one component now and hope to get away with just a card upgrade.

Btw would my PSU(Seasonic 520 S12ii Bronze) be able to handle a 2060S?

I heard rumors that Ampere could be more power hungry, and I dont really want to do a PSU upgrade now. Besides with the covid situations I'm not really sure when it would drop here (in India). One other reason why I want to upgrade the card now is to make the quarentine expience a little better.

i'd upgrade the PSU first before upgrading to higher end hardware, that PSU is rather "meh"

Just wait for Ampere because then there will probably be a sale for the 20-series graphics card then and you can get a higher end graphics card

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. 
After going through all of your comments I think I'll hold on for now and see how the 3000 series does, there's no point in rushing and risking it. 970 is still okay and can still definitly work on for a bit longer.
If I'm doing this then I should do it right by upgrading the PSU as well, the only reason to not to do it would be if I'm going for a 2060S right now but that might not even be the right call on the long run.
