Upgrade from i7-8700k to i9-9900k

Just update the motherboard's BIOS.

I've purchased an i9-9900k to put into this computer (specs below), because of the new parts coming out later this year.  I'm goin to make a new computer for me to use and give this one to my g/f w/an RTX 3080ti (if I can find 2) upon release.  I was wondering if it would be an issue w/just popping it in and startin the computer back up or if I would need to reinstall my OS and start from scratch.

 

Any useful info is appreciated; thanks.

No this is pretty straight forward: Change out the CPU and re-apply new Thermal compound. I can recommend you Noctua NT-H2 if you need a new tube of Thermal compound. 

 

Also install the latest BIOS Version for you Mainboard if you haven't already:

I've done these w/a Noctua NH-D15 chromax.Black and I've updated the BIOS; thanks for the response
