An app won't fail or stop just because a single nation is (mass) disliking the app.

China and the USA are probably in their top 3 largest userbases, which won't die down because of these reviews.

Whether the app will die on its own? Yes, at some point it will die, once the userbase has decided the app is not 'cool'  anymore. At some point you will have more people leaving than joining, which is it dying down.

When will that happen? Unknown.

India was also in the top 3 user base, but then a Tiktok user did a live stream talking pointless BS about YouTube and started YouTube vs tiktok (read the other topic to know what happened next), but another Tiktok user (with million fans) made a Tiktok glorifying acid attack on women (that is very disrespectful) which made people more angry and more people want the app to be banned (this might have never happened if the app had control over its content, it also got banned previously for showing child porn)

Fail? Nah, it's already very successful. Even if the app suddenly closes tomorrow, the owner has already made much more than what's been invested.

Yes, that is why I mentioned the other two countries which are (likely) in the top 3 countries for them. (I guessed those were the other top 2, no clue in what order they would be).

Losing one of these won't kill the app entirely. Plus I doubt the entire app's eco-system relies on original content from India. I think most people just watch videos from their 'own country' anyways.

Thank you for the clarification!

Play Store rating matters nothing for mass market social apps. Who cares? People are still gonna try it because their friends use it everyday.

It's not like you check the rating on a film everytime you're talking to a friend and he goes "You should totally watch it, it's super fun!" or "It's made for you!"

Will "fall" of grace when a competitor shows up, and it's most likely to be another chinese app or google.

Apps die when they can't make money anymore. Not due to review bombs. I hear a rumor that google takes off apps that get a ton of bad reviews and go under a cretin threshold but I have no idea if that is true, Sounds weird to me.

People are just throwing a temper tantrum because YouTube removed a video about why "YouTube is better than TikTok". Review bombing isn't going to make a difference when most of us already have the app.

This whole thing is incredibly childish.

100% this. Review bombing to begin with is the most childish thing on the web.

This whole thing is incredibly childish.

But its a threat to small you tube creators, kind of limiting the right of speech.

That problem expands far greater than a video complaining about TikTok, trust me.

Seems like an overinflated sense of care over a social media app, to be honest.

You have no right to free speech on a private platform.  How do people not get that?  That exists only on public property or property that you own (whether physical or digital).

And again, if anything you should be upset at Youtube.  TikTok didn't take down the video.

I disagree that it's a private platform, just like youtube, facebook, reddit, twitter. For all intents and purposes they should be classified as a public space UNLESS your account is set to private so only followers can see what you're saying.

There's not a huge difference between standing in a park shouting things and typing things on twitter.

But standing in a mall and shouting things will get you escorted out because the mall is a privately owned place and the owners can disallow making a mess and enforce that rule. That's what all of these platforms are.

All of those are owned by publicly traded, but not publicly owned companies. That still makes them privately owned entities and as such, their respective owners set the rules. Remember, there's a licence or other agreement you'd have to consent to before you can actually use the platform. So, you may disagree all you want, but that doesn't change the fact you still have to abide by the rules some-one else set for that platform.

And i will. My opinion is that social media should be treated as a public space, regardless of any current laws or regulations that say otherwise. I'm fully aware my opinion wont change anything, but nor will the current state of things change my opinion. Because I have Freedom of Thought.
