am i nuts? the search for rgb pwm fans

f2bacon

i'd like to put rgb fans in both mine and my girlfriends builds. we both use the darkflash dlm21 mesh case. i have a 240mm aio in pushpull, she has a 120mm aio in pushpull. i use the asrock b450m pro4 and the motherboards rgb control stinks. my girlfriend has the gigabyte ds3h wifi so she might have better rgb options.
for my setup i have 4 fans into the nzxt kraken x52 and then 3 fans at the front, and 1 at the back going into my nzxt grid fan controller. so i'd need 4 pressure fans, 4 airflow fans?

my girlfriend would just need 2 pressure fans, 4 airflow fans.
i'm trying to keep it on the low side, or as low as i can to achieve this. i'd like silent fans (i was close to going with the arctic p12 pwm pst co and f12 pwm pst co cause theyre cheap and seem promising, but we both want rgb)
does anyone have any recommendations? i feel like im at a loss.  thanks for absolutely any help

I wouldn't get to hung up on fan types (airflow vs pressure optimized) most fans are more pressure optimized but are still in the middle range between static pressure - airflow.

On the cheap Deepcool has a great 5-in-1 kit.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zFVD4D/deepcool-rf120m5-in-1-565-cfm-120-mm-fans-rf120m

I've heard they are a bit loud but for $55, you can't really complain.

The more premium Corsair fans will have nice software to play with (iCue, when it's working) and mostly are visually more pleasing, you can also add Corsair RGB strips.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8KFXsY/corsair-ll120rgb-led-three-fans-with-lighting-node-pro-432-cfm-120mm-fans-co-9050072-ww

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TdqBD3/corsair-icue-ql120-rgb-418-cfm-120-mm-fans-co-9050098-ww

The HD's are the best value from Corsair.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mh7CmG/corsair-hd120-rgb-w-controller-544-cfm-120mm-fans-co-9050067-ww

The SP's are the best static pressure optimied (literally their name) but corsair never made the AF (air flow) series in RGB.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NDmxFT/corsair-sp120-rgb-3-pack-wcontroller-520-cfm-120mm-fans-co-9050061-ww

But the outright best RGB fans in terms of performance and how quiet they operate is the Corsair ML's. One system of mine is outfitted with the RGB variant and another the LED variant. I absolutely love these fans and although not as visually striking as the LL's they perform amazingly on radiators, and as general airflow case fans. They are more pressure optimized, but again like many fans they also provide great airflow.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3cfhP6/corsair-ml120-pro-rgb-3-pack-wlighting-node-pro-473-cfm-120mm-fan-co-9050076-ww

My build links are in my signature if you want to see what the fans looks like in action.

I definitely don't wanna spend corsair amounts of money, and even deepcool / uphere can get expensive when ordering 15ish fans. I'm just trying to figure out which off-brand type fans are the best between deepcool, uphere, thermaltake, pccooler, asiahorse, coolermaster, and more. im trying to cheap out but still get pwm

InWin Sirius Loop is a good looking fan with minimalist RGB lighting, but it's an airflow optimized, not for static pressure.

These ones didn't seem too bad for cheap.

I'm looking for pretty much the same thing. Those dont have any pwm control. They are only speed control through the remote. The kit in that video also has no motherboard rgb control, they do make a kit that hooks into the argb header though.

The uphere fan controller ties into the pwm header from the motherboard, but are 3 pin fans, at least you get speed control.

The deepcool fans are what I'm kind of stuck on at the moment standard 4 pin  pwm headers and daisy chainable rgb headers.

These are the exact thing I'm looking for. Cheapest so far, actual pwm, and an rgb controller.

Similar to the other ezdiy, but with pwm after all. They JUST went out of stock last night as I was trying to add them to cart.

Keep in mind those are ARGB fans/controller, 3-pin ARGB.

4-pin RGB is +12v, while 3-pin ARGB is +5v.

It has a "controller" yet still requires to you connect to a ARGB header on the motherboard?

image.png.0d2045130942f288e6224ad6ba4faefd.png

This Amazon 5-fan kit will work with the AsRock B450M Pro4, as it has the correct type of 3-pin ARGB header.

What specific DS3H WiFi motherboard is your girlfriend using?

Assuming the B450M DS3H WIFI?

If so, yes, this 5-fan kit is also compatible with her motherboard.

After all that, I think these might be it.
https://amzn.to/3ew10HC

individual PWM headers as well as daisy chainable. I just dont think the little one click controller is included, but I'm sure I can figure something out. I'm probably gonna order 15 and see how it goes
