PSU for 3700x and 1070ti

Location: Canada (QC)

Budget: max 120C$ (but would like something lower if possible)

Preferred retailer: amazon, newegg

1070ti is OCed +200/+400 (120%TDP)

3700x is running on PBO but i may manual OC in the future

I occasionally do: streaming/recording, video encoding, folding@home

Reason I'm looking for a new one is because I discovered that my TR2 RX 750 is absolute garbage in terms of literally everything on top of having horrible coil whine on certain gpu heavy loads (i havent been running this system on it for too long)

 

What I found by myself (but am still looking for recommendations):

Rosewill hive 850S for 80C$ (kijiji, yes i know its overkill)

Rosewill glacier 850 for 80C$ (idem)

Antec earthwatts 550 for 110C$ (amazon)
CM MWE 750 for 117C$ (amazon)

Seasonic Focus GM 550 for 104C$ (newegg)

 

EDIT: Decided to go with the Cooler Master MWE 650W in order to have headroom for potential future upgrades

Yes the TR2 is a bad PSU, don't replace it with another bad one.

 

You don't need a 750W+ PSU, and all those units aren't particularly good. Your system won't draw more than 350W Max under load, you are better off with a quality 550-650W unit.

 

I recommend referring to this list:

I recommend tier B+ or higher.

even 450w would be fine... the 3700x is very efficient, and the 1070ti does not need a shiteload of power.

 

450-550w is plenty these days

I've been thinking about this since yesterday, I couldn't really decide and am torn between the following 3:

I'll mark this as solved once I decide what I go with

Either go for bq! PP11 500W or pay a bit more for Corsair RMx 550W (115 CDN) or Antec HCG Gold Pro 650W (118 CDN), you don't really need 650W tho.
