RAM Dimensions compatibility with my motherboard.

Will this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D5SN1ZK?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 RAM fit in my MSI B450M PRO VDH-PLUS motherboard? The RAM is listed as 0.5cm longer than my current RAM which is dogshit (thats why im changing it). It’s something like TEAMGROUP 1x16gb 2400mhz. It appears to be 13.3cm long while the one i listed is 13.8cm. Is this some kind of mistake or will the RAM not fit? Any recommendations for my mobo are appreciated, looking for ddr4 2x16gb  3200mhz RAM that would fit

The only time RAM height becomes a compatibility issue is with AIO's or large air coolers, there is no interference with the motherboard so you should be all good. What CPU cooler do you have?

I'd wager the extra width comes from the cooler on the RAM:

The RAM will fit in the board, no issues.

You would rather need to check with your cooler if your RAM will fit. If you have particularly large air cooler or a water cooler with the radiator at the top, the RAM would interfere.

The height won’t be a problem, there is nothing above the ram, my cooler isn’t blocking it. I am just concerned about it being too long and not fitting in the slot

The length shouldn't be a problem. What is adding to the length is the heatsink; the actual board/module length is the same as all DDR4 modules. The RGB heatsink also adds height. And that might be an issue for low-profile CPU coolers.

 

As for TeamGroup, their modules are not bad at all. I've used them in the past for inexpensive but reliable RAM. If you're not getting the speeds being promised, it might be an issue with incorrect timings being obtained by the motherboard or the fact that you're only using a single module which won't be able to take advantage of dual channel speeds.

Thanks, also, quick question. Should i rather get 3200mhz cl16 or a 3600mhz cl18 if my mobo can run 3466mhz when xmp is on?

Yeah, i am not hating on the brand, but a single channel 2400mhz isn’t made to be on a system with an rtx2070 super and a ryzen 7 3700X. Also, thanks.

3200Mhz C16 and 3600Mhz C18 (assuming you were going to run it at those speeds and timings) are basically the same in performance. I would probably go with the cheaper one in this case. No advantage in getting either.

That said, any DDR4 RAM will fit on any motherboard that supports DDR4. So no issues here.
