Suggest me the worst GPU possible

steelo

So, I have a coworker where his addiction to PC games is literally destroying his marriage. He plays a lot of online games and I suggested to ask the mods to ban him. He's done this, however he just ends up creating a new account the next day.

He wants the absolute minimum GPU that will work with his system but still has HDMI output. Basically something so awful, no game created in the past 5-10 years will run on it. He currently has a RX 590 I believe but his wife is essentially making him sell it. I believe he said he uses a Ryzen 7 and he does still need the computer for work.

Seriously, this dude gets home from work and stays up playing online games until 3 am. His wife doesn't see him for more than an hour a day...I mean, I love good video games but he seriously has a problem.

Nah, 710 can still technically run many games. Older Quadra cards as well

I don't think he has integrated graphics...I'm not sure which, but it is a Ryzen 7.

so... he has a terrible gaming addiction, and is going to downgrade his computer to make it go away?

you dont need to downgrade your pc mate, you need rehab.

I hate to laugh because it's a very sad situation he's put himself in.

Sadly, he's in marriage counseling...it's so bad that he confused wow currency (not sure what it's referred to as) with actual money in his bank account.

well, downgrading his pc wont help the gaming addiction. if it's to the point of ruining his marriage, he's either an awfully close minded husband, or has an addiction. if you take away one source of the "substance", they go to another.

so.. whichever of the two options it is, the GPU wont solve the issue.

I don't know the guy extremely well, but I tend to agree. Video games are his life...as sad as that sounds. That's ALL he talks about. He and his wife never do anything, never go out to eat, on vacations, etc. I doubt they've had slept in the same bed in over a year...I feel awful for her because she is a really sweet lady.

Well a terrible GPU won't do any good either, since what is stopping this guy from driving to a store to get a new GPU and install it?

i mean.. video games make up a pretty large portion of my personal life as well, but there's limits, like being able to exit the game for life stuff: going to the store, being at work on time, spend time with family members, etc.

There are plenty of sources online on how to approach and help people with gaming addiction. If you really wish to help your friend inform yourself. By just downgrading the GPU it is saying that his behavior is still going to be tolerated/accepted. I went through this with substance abuse and am now 9 years clean. With yours and his family supporting him, he to can have relief from addiction.

Or they could get divorced, and she can find a nice normie to do the things she wants to do with. He can do what he wants to do without worrying about some whiny lady in his life always talking bad about him to everyone they/she knows.

There comes a point where an obsession with video games goes too far and there's need for genuine concern.

I have lost 20 GBP for saying this

If you just get the crappy graphics card, all that'll happen is he'll move to mobile gaming instead or something. An addict can often find new ways to scratch the itch

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

The only help he will get is professional. He needs to make the decision to change his habits. If not, that's up to him. No changing of GPUs is going to stop that. He will simply try it then go buy another card better.
