  1. I agree with a bit of what has already been said, mostly around helping him get a job, as that would be a more positive impact to his ability to support himself and his family. The blind spot here is that for many, including myself, video games are an escape from reality, whatever it is. Is the optics of being unemployed and being gifted a gaming PC poor to his significant other? Maybe, but that's not your place to worry. Technology and games play a massive role in the mental welfare of many people today, and can help get them through a tough time, regardless of what it is.
  2. Cincinnati Microcenter has been restricting people for upwards of 90 days from buying multiple GPUs. On the day I bought a 3080, I wasn't even allowed to buy a processor with it.
  3. Game is coded like dogshit and they don't care to fix it. Unfortunately you'll have to deal with it.
  4. This is not correct. A dongle is not needed. You can point the mining software to any installed card.
  5. This doesn't make any sense... why would microcenter have incentive to buy a failing competitor? I think what you want is for them to simply expand and build a store near you, which, as someone who lives 15 mins from a microcenter... I understand.
  6. The game is coded like dogshit. I have a 3440x1440 setup and with a 5800x and 3080 FTW3 couldn't break 100-105fps on minimum settings. It's an issue with the game you can't overcome with hardware.
  7. I just upgraded from a 1080ti to a 3070, but saw little fps increase in Warzone. Reason is it is very CPU dependent. Upgraded from a 2700x to 5600x and saw massive differences in every game I play.
  8. Recently sold my 1080ti ROG STRIX for $460, for reference.
  9. Can you post a photo of it that was not taken with a toaster?
  10. I recently sold my 1080ti STRIX for $460, and replaced with a $499 3070 FE. Gained 35% FPS for $40. Bad deal for you.
  11. Questionable logic "upgrading" in search of 5-10% FPS for hundreds of extra dollars.
