Is a Q6600 and a GT610 still acceptable for gaming?

Yeah, I already know it's dirt cheap, at 20 bucks a pop or so. The original was an 8800GT. Was it a mistake to take it out for the 610?

On paper, yes. IMO, hell yes.

Oh, so the 610 is crap? On a side note, The 8800GT has only half a gig of DDR3 VRAM, and the GT610 with 1GB. Is it still feasible to swap cards?

GPU, you should change, if money is an issue maybe a second hand GTX 680 or another higher NV card. I say NV as the prices for new or even second hand AMD cards are just so warped because of the mining boom.

Yeah, seriously the 610 shouldn't exist. There is no reason. 

 

Never buy a dedicated GPU under $100. They are pretty much a waste of money.

It exists for 2 reasons:

 

People stupid enough to buy it

Computers with no onboard graphics

Try to find a GTX 650 or 650Ti Boost on eBay. They tend to go around there. Or, (sadly) a GTX 480. Still fast, just runs crazy hot.

It should be fine but I would prefer a 650ti. Just don't get a normal 650 as the ti models are a lot better. (I have the EVGA 650ti Boost SC 2GB. Bought it for $160 new last year and it runs BF4 with no issues on high settings.)

Yeah, but a non TI 650 isn't worth it since the 650TI has much better performace.

Yep, that's a good card. My dad's stock Zotac 660 does a bit better than mine (overclocked) in benchmarks.

A GTX 480 would work, but I might actually recommend a GTX 470 or SLI 460s for the same price.

I would recommend an older nvidia card over an new lower end AMD card
