Which cheap SSD better to use for storage?

Hey all, 

I read some of the topics that were already disgusted here and were unable to determine the best options. 
I would appreciate it if someone could give some suggestions. 
I wanna store movies and music on SSD, nothing important. But I prefer not to lose movies ether. 
I prefer storage in between 500-1000 GB. 

 

Please suggest Brands first, as it is possible that  models that you would suggest, might not be available for me to buy.

Why on an SSD? That kind of storage makes more sense on an HDD.

Just get a green drive, the best solution imo

SSDs aren't very useful for this use case. Movie and music files require little bandwidth and data access is minimal. Unless for some reason HDDs are just as expensive, I suggest getting an HDD instead.

you reffering to the color of the drive? or the wd green drives?

 

because neither really work out at 500-1000gb options.

would just get a HDD or a pair of HDDs to Raid 1.

then in the end it really only matters what the market offers, you are probably looking at somethign like the 660p or P1 qlc drives, or mx500 Sata drives.

You'd have to link people to the stores you use for someone to help you. PCPartPicker doesn't do Israel, and US pricing isn't relevant to you unless you're buying from there.

It's 2019 HDD don't make that much noise any more............

You know swappable units for Hard drives. 
I use one. I am not watching movies every day. I thought that if I get and non-moving driver, it well be much safer in case it will get hit.

From time to time I wanna see an old movie, so I just swan in the hdd and watch a movie. 

At night, it is I just get noise from the station cause it is moving, asme as if the hdd was in The pC.

Tbh.. I got a new 5400rpm wd blue which is effectively a new wd green, and still it is the absolut loudest part in my system. I really consider switvhing over to full ssd system in one or two years when they get even cheaper

I have a HDD in my system and the loudest part that I can hear is still the fans, even when the HDD is churning at something.

Crucial MX500, very low failure rate from what I can see on Amazon.  I have one and the speeds I tested on CrystalDiskMark match the advertised speeds.  They are pretty cheap too.

I run various capacities of these in several computers, they are great drives and stay pretty fast even after a lot of use.

 

Responding to the thread starter: I'd still go for a low-RPM hard drive for movie storage, unless you're running a passively-cooled system, your fans will make more noise than a modern drive. I have a Toshiba external drive that's inaudible over my system fans at idle.

Get 2.5" HDDs, these are pretty silent. Set a low timeout, so they spind down, when you don't need them.
