Hey guys, hows it going?

can somebody give me some feedback on this particular model:

GameMax RGB 550W Modular 80 Plus Gold

Literally nothing we know about it. 12V rail amperage suggests that it's maybe DC-DC at least but nothing more. In other words we don't recommend it.

Probably the RM750x if they were similar price. Otherwise, whatever's cheaper.

Even if you got the old version of the focus which had a problem with power spikes, you would probably get away with it because the 1000 watt rating means all the power spikes would still be far below the max rated output of the unit.

Protip: don't buy 1000 watt power supplies for gaming PCs

although our convo has been months back, with the new launch of 3000 series graphics cards coming out and speculation on how psu might be in for a treat on powering those, you still suggest my purchase wasnt a good one?

I can't remember what our convo contained, and with a topic length of 125 pages, I'd rather not go back and look

Judging by what you quoted, you bought a really high watt version of the Focus Plus, the old GX. Or maybe not, I don't know. But, a 1000 watt PSU for these new GPUs is still very overkill, the 3090 is only rated for 350 watts of power draw, which means you'd need a seriously high core count CPU or a couple graphics cards to justify such a unit. Otherwise, gamers can comfortably run a 3090 with their 650 and 750 watt PSUs like normal.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

So how is the Gigabyte GP-P750GM Gold? Should I get it? I'm upgrading to RTX 3080.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/GP-P750GM#kf

It literally released on September 1st. No reviews right now so we don't know anything about it. Personally, I would get a PSU that is verified to be of good quality.

Hello,

"High Power Performance GD"

this model is currently listed under both the Tier B and the Tier C. is this a mistake? was there a new info about theis particular PSU that lowered its tier into Tier C? what's up with that?

I also see Chieftec Polaris listed as gold, meaning superior compared to its tier mates, but wasn't high power performance gd also the same with Polaris, meaning GD model would also be golden colored for its tier?

Do you recommend it? I'm not familiar with multi-rail PSU's. I'm upgrading to RTX 3080 soon.

This is a long shot but do you happen to know where I can get extra PCIe cables for it?

Thanks!

it's in tier c due to having issues with 90vac, but otherwise it's fine
