I'd go for the 3200g. Performance is pretty similar and you get a way nicer upgrade path

I second that, there is no real difference once your in the real world.  Benchmarks might show one or other being faster, but in the real world their about the same.  I would also opt for the AMD for the price to performance ratio and what not.

First PC build. On a very tight budget.

GPU : MSI RX570 8G

Should I go for the 3200G or 9100f?

1200, or wait a bit for Zen 2 Ryzen 3. 3200G is 3rd gen but Zen+, like 2nd gen CPUs that do not have iGPU (which you have no use for)

Ryzen 5 2400G if possible. If not, the 3200G - the i3 9100F is on a dead socket so the upgrade path is limited. Not to mention that the i3 runs hotter than the Ryzen CPUs

Search for a Ryzen 1600 if at all possible.

If you're gonna get a dedicated video card, don't spend the money on a cpu with integrated graphics that will limit the cpu performance.

3200g is not worth it because it's the same cores as the ones in 2xxx series, you don't get that boost of performance that 3xxx series is praised for.

2400g is only worth it if you're sure you're not gonna get a dedicated graphics card.

2200g is what... 80-85$ .... a Ryzen 1600 can be bought for around 100$ .. 114$ on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B06XNRQHG4

Here's pc partp picker link with lots of sellers: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mV98TW/amd-ryzen-5-1600-32ghz-6-core-processor-yd1600bbaebox

and if you really don't want to spend more than 100$ on cpu, maybe go for Ryzen 1400, simply because it has 4 cores and 8 threads, and that helps a bit.

There's an eBay listing for 80$ .. add a 10-20$ cooler and you're below the 100$ threshold: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-YD1400BBAEBOX-Ryzen-5-1400-3200MHz-Quad-Core-Processor/362735556573?

Here's a second listing with 10 or more processors available, for 82.5$ each (no cooler)

If your budget is super tight... buy just one stick of memory now and run the computer for a month in single channel mode. Use the money for faster cpu.

Then at your next paycheck, buy a 2nd stick of memory and you get a nice performance boost from running in dual channel.

Do you have any proof of this or is just a rumour ? Asking because I never encountered in a decade an Intel under 200 bucks that ran hot. AMD was a different story though.

Neither, the R5 1400 or R5 1600 would be the true better pick here.

Option 1 for me would be a new R5 1600 if you can squeak up just a hair in price. You don't need the 3200G's iGPU if you're using a 570, so why bother with it? Take the extra performance if you can.

If the 1600 is out of your price range and you can't hold off for a few weeks to save up and get it into your price range, I'd go with the 3200G, but the R5 would be by far and away my choice. The i3 wouldn't even be a consideration for me.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Neither, Ryzen 5 1600, especially since you have a gpu.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler (YD1600BBAEBOX) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XNRQHG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UiNGDbM25Y2BB

$10 more than the 3200g and much much more versatile.

The 3200g and 9100f are both throwing money away for gaming in 2019.
