sounds like a fire and health hazard... no

just get compressed air

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Depends what gas it is.

An aerosol isn't really a gas, by the way.

Just get compressed air or a special air compressor for pc cleaning

Please just used compressed air, take it outside or a place you don't mind getting dusty, and blow outwards. When you said gas I was very concerned.

Well idk what gas it is it isnt written on the can. All that is written is that its an extremely flammable aerosol and Platinet gas duster spray.

You can make air go really fast without the need of a propellant.

An electric air duster may be a higher upfront cost but they are worth it.

Cans of stuff are just air being forced out at high speed as a gas propellant) expands. As the gas expands it takes energy from the air around it, which is why it’s gets cold. A bit like how a freezer or a fridge works.

But is it ok to use it or was this money wasted?

It's fine to use in your PC. Just don't turn the can upside down while spraying, then you risk spraying out the liquid that hasn't evaporated yet.

It's probably a fluorocarbon compound like DFE or TFE.

They are very convenient and have a low up front cost.

The disadvantage is very short usage times, you have to let them warm up a bit after half a min or so.

The other disadvantage is the environmental impact.

Air dusters have high up front cost, 10x as much.  But they are super handy.

They too need a cool down after a few mins use but the higher cost ones go for longer.

So its safe for the pc but not as cost effective as an electric duster?

Safe if the correct stuff (safe for electrical) and used properly. I bought a few and quickly realised they are not worth it and bought an air duster as soon as I could afford it:

It sounds like you got a can of "compressed air" dont spray it into open flames or turn up side down and you should be fine. Also dont huff it (inhale), and do use it in short bursts not long sprays, it gets colder the longer its sprayed and looses its oomph.

what conponet are you cleaning

if a heat sink or rad of fan it sould be OK

i would not recommend punting it on your CPU on GPU or motherboard because the have a bittering compound that may be conductive

In the long term if you clean your PC regularly I suggest buying some type of air blower to save money since individual cans can get expensive.
If you are just cleaning it out every now and again get some type of electrical grade air can at walmart (or wherever you shop).

As long as you dont let it go too long or tip it upside down you should be fine but like the others are saying give it a minute to warm up before using it again.
