How often do you clean your PC?

matus570

I clean my pc every 2 weeks. I must do it so often because 1. I don't have dust filters 2. Where I live is full of dust. I mean that after I clean my house it's dusty after 3-6 days.

Dust filters: Whenever I remove the front panel and see that there enough dust to kill someone from asphyxiation.

Whole PC: Basically never, maybe once in my PCs 4 years.

I should clean my PC more.

I've been cleaning it as I upgrade things.  If I already have the case open and the components taken apart, it seems like a good time.  I occasionally examine the components through the window, but so far dust build up seems very slow.

At home, less than once per year because there's very little dust going through where the PC is located.  I don't even have dust filters on the computer because it doesn't need them. :)

At work though, I try to clean some of the computers in dusty areas every couple months.

When I put it in a new case (so about once every 1.5 to 2 years).

At least quarterly, sometimes sooner. I highly recommend going to Walmart and getting a $50-60 air compressor. 2 cans of air is like $6-8 and I use at least two every time. So for me it pays itself back within 3 years.

Not to mention it's VASTLY superior in pressure. I can blow dust bunnies away from 3ft. With ~50psi

Just make sure not to tilt the nozzle down too much or you risk dripping water unless you have an air compressor moisture filter.

I don't really, my PC is a tool.

That doesn't make sense..you clean tools as well. You must not be a mechanic because we clean our tools, well most of us. Just get on any car forums such as garagejournal.

Any sane person doesn't polish a hammer. Also of course i'd clean it if it was actually dirty. But a bit of dust can't hurt.

Nobody said polish, just a regular cleaning. Dust affects airflow and in turn, thermals. Higher thermals can reduce performance or the lifespan of the component needing cooled.

24/7 open case (test bench with lid & filter on each fan)

clean/ brush filters only ~ once every 2 months, or it heats up gradually

Clean it when it is rebuilt, which changes, i do clean the dust filters at times, but that is about it..

so it will become 1+ years at times, but it does not seem to be dusty..

took my fathers pc apart, with a HD5970 and a I5 750 there i did have to fully take the GPU a part and repaste and clean every fin, also on the pc, that did lower the noise level and temperature with quite a lot.

Once every 2years but I clean the filters almost every 2 weeks.

In light we seek the darkness in our lives to shade the misdeeds we do unto those we meet.

The filters I clean whenever they're full of dust. The whole PC, well I haven't cleaned it since I put it in it's current case in November 2016. There's not much dust in my room and the filters help keep the inside clean. There's a bit of dust on the fan blades, but not enough for me to bother to clean it. This is for my main PC. My others PCs I basically never clean (they aren't used much either).

Not related to this topic but why do you have so many pc but none of them is even older high end? Except for that 2600 that is kind of at the edge of high end
