In addition to the 120/144Hz refresh the index display has the lowest persistence of any headset.

 

Never tried such a high refresh rate VR device but according to the review I posted it makes the experience a lot more immersive and real because movements feel naturally responsive.

The minimum specs are not unreasonable, most VR games aren't brutal on the CPU, and a GTX 970 makes sense with Valve's version of ASW 1.0.

 

They should probably have some requirement for the CPU clocks but oh well.

Index of refraction is what it refers to. But... that still doesn't make it a great name.

For a resolution of that size you need more than a 970 to actually make use of it. You shouldnt buy the headset with a system like that.

No, it actually fits pretty well with ASW 1.0 dramatically reducing the required performance.

 

The Index has 78% more pixels than the OG Vive and Rift, for which a GTX 960 is sufficient. And as it turns out, a GTX 970 is around 70% faster than a GTX 960. The extra pixels are roughly matched by extra GPU performance.
