Seems like the easiest way for most people to help out is in the Marathon.

 

This involves downloading BOINC, selecting the "World Community Grid" project, and then selecting the sub-project "OpenZIKA".

 

1. Download + Install BOINC (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) 

2. Open BOINC and click "Add Project"

3. Select the "World Community Grid" project, and then click on their website url. (https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/discover.action)

4. On their Website, click "Join Now" at the top left or right depending. Enter your information and Register.

5. Once presented with the Sub project selection, choose "OpenZIKA" and click next. It will download a program, but you don't need it.

 

6. Go back to the BOINC app and click "Next >". Login with the World Community Grid account that you just signed up for.

 

Your BOINC app will now benchmark your system, and then start running. 

 

BUT, you still need to set your team to the LTT forum one.

 

7. Navigate to the team selection page, and login if you aren't already (https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/team/viewMyTeam.do)

8. Type in "LinusTechTips" in the "Contains:" field.

9. Click on the "LinusTechTips_Team" result that shows up. Once the page loads click "Join Team".

 

You will now be BOINCing for the LTT team :D

 

This is the easiest way to help out the cause, but there are more beneficial / advanced ways to do so if you're interested. Refer to the OP for more information.

We will be back in 10th or 11th. All depends on how the other teams do in the javelin between now and then.

side note: should have unplugged my network connection from my P4 it's downloading updates during the install w/o a progress bar it feels like ☠️

Im not sure it's worth running 2 tasks of einstein on my 1060 i am gaining a couple minutes but am losing an extra core i could be putting on zika.

Decided to watch the Linus roast to kill an hour and a half. Not all that bad a lot of the jokes were pretty good.

Yea, that's what I was watching while trying to get BSD to work. Speaking of which I got Ubuntu to start World on my P4, so it's fully set up to run when the server gets here (I hope tomorrow). Tho all I need to do now is either figure out where to put the server or where to put my P4 ?

 

Edit: Oh wait I have a computer case doing jack all :P

So you know how you said your BOINC combined stats would hit 3 mil before the end of the year?

I'm over 1/2 way there after only 8 days :D

My GPU's have effectively died on me though so as much as Einstein@Home contributed it will no longer get bigger. WCG all the way!

 

And the stats finally corrected themselves we're back in 11th. I blame Ben Quigley...

Tempted to keep going looking at L'Alliance Francophone credits atm, pretty much the same as what we have and it's also their best effort so far. Stopping now would basically be the best score we can get, no going back if we do.

Bit late now for Javelin but I have 3 more servers I can setup but due to network patching limitations they can only be bunkers, just have to cable swap no big deal. Might actually be useful for the next 2 throws to quickly get to what we get today then fully go back to Marathon.

Chances are you have been unlucky in either getting tasks that my BOINC client keep erroring out (not that many) or more likely bunkered. Watch it all get claimed on the last day ?

Yep, waiting on validation of Einstein tasks has been annoying. I guess they will serve as a bunker if people behind us drop some. EVGA has me a little concerned, even though we keep putting distance on them, just because we know what they have on their folding team. My pending are probably worth almost 7 million points. I'll probably have to pull 1 or 2 gpus as the week goes on to increase cpu task output(and reduce heat) for Javelin and Sprint, but will keep 2 Radeon VII's and 2 Vega 64's going.
