intel i7 4790k vs ryzen r7 2700x and r7 3700x

My i5 4690k is bottlenecking me at the moment. Expecially when we are talking about games like battlefield 1 and a few other heavily cpu intensive games. I want to upgrade my system, but I don't know if I should upgrade just my cpu (to a i7 4790k) which would give me approximately a 25% boost in performance right now, upgrade to ryzen r7 2700x which would be about a 35% increase in performance or wait for ryzen r7 3700x which could be higher.  What do you guys think?

You're fine for now. Wait until zen2. That's what I'm doing, and I'm on an FX 9590. So if I can wait, I guess you can too.

I'd probably wait. I'm using an I7 4790K and it's great but I'd still wait and see what Zen 2 brings before doing any upgrades

The 4790k is selling for way to much money right now (current owner, considering selling) and I plan to wait for zen 2 to make a decision.

Is there as many frame drops though? Cause I hear that the 1% lows are a lot less noticiable with a i7 4790k over a i5 4690k.

Well that's the issue. Cause I am not going to buy it brand new its way overpriced. However if I decided to pick one up used... we are talking about a $200 investment that would increase my performance by around 25%.

Zen 2 Ryzen especially a 3700x would probably be more than a 25% increase in performance, plus much, much more modern. Upgrading to another 4th gen cpu is essentially just crippling yourself in terms of longevity.

4790k is worth it if you got it from the start

I cant say for sure since the one quad core Haswell CPU I own int in a gaming rig so I cant test it easily, but I still do notice some framedrops (I'm also running a 1080ti, wanting to upgrade my monitor to a 1440p soon)

Not sure what card you’re putting with it. But a 4790k isn’t worth much. Eacpailly for a game like bf1. Playable performance was 50/50. 

 

I would hope the fancy amd stuff would be better than an old intel chip. So I’d wait if you’re ready to rebuild the entire pc.

Yeah it kinda depends. If the performance from the new Ryzen chips is a solid improvement then i think it would be worth it, but if we are talking very slim gains... then I might just "save" my money and go for the i7 4790k.

What kind of budget are you dealing with, because going AMD is gonna require at least a new board, possibly new RAM as well. I like recommending AMD as much as possible HOWEVER there is always a cost/benefit factor to consider.

Money doesn't really matter to me within reason. I just think that intel at the moment isn't the greatest value proposition, so I am not doing that. I also don't need threadripper. This is something though that I think the final build would look like...

I upgraded from a 4790k to an 8700k. World of difference. Actually able to use one of my cards and not have any issues and enjoy the framerate that comes with that. 

If the ne ryzen are anything like people hope, it should be worth the wait. I don't like waiting nor do I want red team. Just wanted to see if the cpu was holding me back even though the experts on here told me is wasn't.
