Posted January 28, 2019 Hi. I want to upgrade my old xeon setup to something better. I have upgraded to an RX 570 and the old xeon even if it is overclocked to 3.8Ghz seems to bottleneck the RX 570. Now I’m looking forward to an upgrade but I have limited budget for a processor and motherboard combo. I only have around 100 bucks. Doesnt make it any better. i got a msi sli plus x370 mobo i could let you have. only problem one fan header only works in dc not pwm but all other fan headers are fine and the board is in great condition. so used am4 mobo check, now for ram and cpu. used ram is ok just get new for cpu though Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options... My X5675 at 4.41GHz feeds a 1080 Ti at 1080p pretty well in everything but Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but there the frametimes are rock solid so it’s still playable at 30-45 fps. My 4690 4core was a beast single threaded +a small bclk overclock making it 4Ghz flat. , but that was on the cusp, prior to game engines becoming 4-8 thread aware and even more demanding (game dependent) but reviews for it were outstanding. 8 Threads is my Gaming Minimum as an Opinion I like sharing for AAA needs. 2nd Gen or Greater with 8 Threads. You can still only take a 2500k so far on the SINGLE core aspect. Why not wait for Higher cashflow to use newer (but buy used) IPC and then boost single core? Meaning it'll take more than $100 but it's also likely you wont hit your intended target with that budget anyway. Like your goal is further than the budget allows. If it is bottleneckiNG, are you still above native Refresh? ie if you didn't monitor it would you notice? Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,..
