Something like the AOC 2460 (i think that is what its called) is a good choice. The 24,5" model.

Hey I wanna know is 80 FPS playable for FPS games ? (Obviously! But is it good enough for a smooth play) (keep in mind- casual gaming and a beginner in gaming)..............

Sure it is. Anything above a consistent 60 FPS is okay for FPS games IMO.

 

I play plenty of fast paced games at 75 FPS.

So it is good right ? Cuz my friends say 100 FPS or nothing and I am tight on budget for a 75 hz monitor...

For starters, 60+Hz is fine so no need to worry about it if you just play casually.

When you feel like you want the games to be smoother and less blurry when it comes to fast motion you'll want to switch to a higher refresh rate panel.

Make sure to quote or tag people, so they get notified.

you can crank 100+fps from the GPU to a 80Hz monitor. Sure there's screen tearing, but if a game's tense you won't notice it.

We played at 60 back in the 2000s, without issue in games like CS:S

 

OK before that we had ultra scan CRTs, I had one and it made CS:S amazing!

U mean that the frames from my gpu > refresh rate of my monitor . So during heavy action the frames will drop to 80 which is well within the range of my monitor.?

no, refresh rate and frame rates are separate numbers. Refresh rate means how many full frames a monitor can display, which means when frame rate > refresh rate, the monitor displays portions of each frame when they are fresh and new, which lowers input latency (that's what your friend's on about).

You could also begin to look at frame times, if frame times are higher it hurts the overall experience.

 This is VERY true. YOU do not need a super high refresh rate monitor. I played CSGO for YEARS and got paid a little to do so with only a 60 hz monitor, if your good at a game higher refresh rates will make you better but if your bad it wont make you suddenly Amazing. You dont need a high refresh rate monitor but anything over 60 is nice aslong as its not a dumb price.

Get 144hz if you play FPS games because in games like that you'll be benefited by higher refresh rate
