Starting from $750!!! I'm really liking the sound of those prices, although realistically I'd spend a bit more on higher specs but even so. Only downside is I hate the thick bezels, but there has to be a compromise somewhere.

Is this supposed to replace the Inspiron lineup or is it just an alternate design? (Or just slightly cheaper?)

Edit: As the OP added, it is the replacement.

Look at the table, and I see no difference between the G3, G5 and G7. Am I missing something, or the source got its table wrong

You can apparently get the i9 with the G3 but not the others from that table, which would be interesting as the G7 is apparently the flagship one. Table is wrong in some other areas too from the quick look I've just had.

I've read the rules, I read them before posting and feel I have complied. I've only posted to share something that I think is interesting and others might be interested in as well. If I put this news in my own words I'd just be repeating the original article.

G3 has optional TB3, no UHD option and 1x1 wifi card. G7 has optional 8950HK. Dimensions and weight also differ from each other

750 for the dog crap version. Once you want a better processor, and a gtx 1060 $1000+

Honestly they really need to cut the crap with MAX-Q. It's a nerfed version. GTX 1060 MAX Q is like a GTX 1050 ti. It's all bullshit. So in the end I am getting a GTX 1050, so might as well look for a non max Q which they don't sell any.

The G3 has a different design. It's the slimmest model and has the less efficient cooling design.

This is news to me what am I missing here? It looks like basically linear progression...

Try games where the GTX 1060 runs around 30-40 FPS, and you will see GTX 1050ti performing very similar to GTX 1060 Max Q. PUBG is cherry picking.

Also as you can see from your own chart GTX 1060 vs GTX 1060 Max-Q is a strong nerf. Might as well call it GTX 1055. (It's all marketing, so it's like saying "You don't need a V8 Engine, here is a more efficient V6 engine" Calling it a V6 will get less profit, so let's call it a V8 max Q where it's more gas efficient.

Well shoot, I bought a 7577 recently. Oh well. I'll just convince myself the two extra cores won't matter.

I'm seeing like ~20-30% difference on 1080p tests here for quite a few games.

If you are talking about CPU bound scenarios yeah that can happen.  The whole reason for the Max Q line was to bring smaller and cheaper gaming laptops to the market.  You can always get the regular versions for 200 bucks more which still are quite good for the price.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but all these models seem extremely redundant to one another. Also, c'mon dell, can't you let the lower end laptops have thin bezels too?

Would be nice If they had a 13" option. On the plus, looks like thunderbolt being royalty free is starting to come into effect.

That is most definitely not a good analogy . . .

I'd buy one just for the looks.

Getting sick of the gaudy designs that have dominated the performance and gaming laptop lineups.

Well they have Nvidia GPUs in them so it must be ok for them to be called gaming laptops but the Kaby Lake G based laptops probably won't be.  Let's wait and see what Dell calls those laptops?

They REALLY need to fix the single hinge in the middle. I have a 7567 and I can make the screen do the wave...

It makes an otherwise incredible value (with otherwise incredible build quality too) laptop feel scary to use because it feels like I’m gonna snap the screen when I open it.

I hope they also continue providing the amazing battery life the 7000 series had. It’s a gaming laptop usable as an all day notebook too

That's an F in the profile pic

They unfortunately brought the capacity down to everyone else's in the 7577. But it still gets appreciably more life than the other companies.

It's like Dell realizes we kind of want to use their gaming laptops as a laptop.
