(Sorry for the garbage webcam pic)

Looks an awful lot like a board @CUDAcores89 and I picked up today.

1996, and no. It was an optional upgrade to my 1993 SGI Indy

i like having a giant tote full of new old stock miscellaneous parts. Trying a different cooler on my socket 7 system, the cooler had a really worn out fan, but have no fear, I've got a 60mm fan New in its package ready to go and replace it

turns out no matter what I do, small high rpm fans are stupidly loud. That's just how it be sometimes

at least this one doesn't make any grinding noises

I can't tell if my Athlons are dead, I know some are toast but I don't know which ones work still

I got this board to Power on but no video as of yet

it's trying to post, the ram leds try a few things before turning off

You can always throw a resistor on the fan harness to slow it down some, those Socket 7 fans were not speed sense or speed controlled and with a decently sized hunk of aluminum not a lot of airflow is needed, an 80MM blowing across the board would suffice. Socket 370 heat sinks will work, one like this may even passively cool a socket 7 CPU if it's not clocked up real high.

This thing is so old it doesn't even shut down from within windows

you let it run the shutdown then flip the switch yourself

back on the topic of coolers, I've been using a bunch of socket 462 coolers and I've opted for an old Athlon xp stock cooler which is massive compared to the tiny one this thing had on it, it doesn't even get warm

i might go for passive airflow alone with two 120mm noctuas in the case but I think running it through a fan controller may help

i love this thing though

the pentium D machine for the time being just isnt working out, i got xp reinstalled on it but i cant update it or i get the "you must activate windows" loop issue

i cant install over USB on that motherboard so ive only got cd's or putting an os on a drive in a different pc and transplanting it

really this k6-2 is doing what my end goal was anyway, XP and winamp with the santa cruz

this thing is surprisingly capable for what it is, modern web browsing is out of the question because it doesnt support some of the hardware features that even things like firefox 43 require to function

but k-meleon works for viewing basic web sites

Also this works now

and oddly enough the evga doesn't artifact with this board? It did on two other boards I have

though this board has voltage control and all sorts of other cool jumpers for the agp pro slot
