Is RGB ram worth it?

On pcpartpicker, Corsair Vengeance (black) ram costs $148 USD and the RGB variant costs $155. Is the 7 dollars for extra flair worth it, or have you guys had problems with getting rgb ram to work?

It can sometimes be a pain, for the most part works fine though. It's up to you if you want the extra flair.

Corsair uses their own software to control their RGB products, so if the RAM is the only Corsair RGB product you have, then it may not be worth it for you. But if you're loaded up with corsair fans, keyboards, etc. Then adding in the RAM would be seen as a good option.

I use the Corsair Dominator Platinums in my build. They come with White LED's in a mostly red build. But the white/silver give a nice contrast to the red around it.

It all comes down to preference, $7 difference ain't much.

I spent a bit more for RGB RAM, can say it was somewhat worth it.. It's still in 'rainbow configuration' still, but I have read there were some issues with the control software so haven't tried that out.

Personally, I think the point of RGB components is not to have a rainbow all over it, but rather to have it set in one color or maybe change it sometimes

I think that messing with it wiped the SPD info at some point.  Don't quote me on that though.
