They can switch single atoms on and off in an array, but this is different, and yes they are claiming it "should" be able to go down to 0.5nm I think I read.

Unless we can go quantum, use mesons, bosons, gluons and morons

Wow, for the longest time I had heard that somewhere around 5 nm would be the limit... that's quite a leap xD

You only need to be concerned once they start claiming we can make them less than 1 atom in size :P

Yes.

the 2700 won't be an 8-core.

IIRC AMD is increasing CCX size to 6 cores with ZEN+, so it will be a 12 core. :)

Wait 12c./24 t on mainstream even if it is $450 I am gonna buy it even if there is no ipc gain over Ryzen

Ps

Rip intel mainstream

Rip intel hedt

Rip intel server

Exempt for games where Intel will probably still win lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Well this my take:

We know that the tech world moves fast. New hardware becomes "old" very quickly. So, if we are logical about it, we can see that if you never buy the hardware in the first place, your hardware will never be outdated!

That's an F in the profile pic

How many atoms are in a nanometer?

I was under the impression that it was 2-4.

are you saying we can make transistors that are less than 4 atoms in size?

It does say 3 atoms thick, yes.

Why? You just need to take a knife and cut the atoms in half.

They did that once,  They blew a shed up and put bubbles in beer.  Not sure how it's going to help semiconductors though.
