Mastercard No PIN or Signature required

They're not foolproof, however they're extremely effective. To deny that it's more beneficial than not is simply asinine.

Read my post again, I simply said that they're not foolproof, which is true.  I also said that I wasn't looking forward to having one, because of the issues I listed beforehand.  Methinks thou dost protest too much.

Mastercard has decided to begin testing a system to do away with PINs or requiring a signature for your credit card purchases.  Their solution, use a fingerprint.

Oh boy... Time to go back to the facepalm avatar, I guess?

And the liability involved with being hacked for those prints is just not feasible.

I like giving my card to friends/family under certain circumstance so they can go to the store for me and I only have to tell them the pin. I seriously dislike it when these companies over complicate crap.

I cant wait to get a card with a DNA scanner on it or something that you have to hock a loogie on to activate.

South Africa hasn't been the same since they ended apartheid that's for sure. I've heard it's now the rape and car jacking capital of the world and most cops and officials take bribes.

That doesn't really refute my point :P

I'll probably won't buy a phone with one, and I'd never use the reader if for some reason I do buy it.

It simply shows it's person to person. Retarded idea to me would have been a more accurate post.

how would I give the card to a family member if it only allows my fingerprints?! did MasterCard went that retard

That's actually against the terms of basically every credit card ever. You're not allowed to give your MasterCard (or other Credit Card) to anyone else. It's for you, and you alone. If you want a family member or spouse to use it, you officially need to get a second card tied to the account with their name on it.

With that in mind, obviously many people break this rule.

But think of it from a retailers perspective. When I used to work as a cashier, I regularly turned people away who tried to use their spouse's card. When the card says "Susan", and you're a dude with a beard, I'm gonna ask you for ID. If your ID doesn't match, you can't use that card.

Most people and cashiers don't care. But I don't know you and I don't know that "Susan" is your wife or even someone you've ever met. *shrugs*

I'm the same way, although I'll make an exception if the last name matches.  No match on the last name though, and I'm definitely not accepting the card.

I would make an exception if I knew the person personally, or their wife was actually with them earlier in the store. Even with last names matching, I would generally not accept.

Business Credit Cards are an exception of course, because it's common for businesses to only get one credit card that gets passed around as needed (stupid of them, but common).
